Jarryd Cole appreciation

I think Everybody realizes how great of a Hawkeye Jarryd Cole is. He is pretty much the ideal Hawkeye. The guy has been great for the program but now has just 1 home game left. I really think that we as fans should do something special to show our appreciation for him. First off course we can sellout Carver for his final game. I would love to see everybody stick around for his post game senior speach and give him a standing ovation.
I was thinking that maybe we could make a poster (or sign) for him showing our appreciation that fans could sign as they go past. Like maybe have it in front of Carver by the road for a few days so passing fans could sign it. Then before Jarryd arrives for his final game move it to a location he'd go past heading into the stadium. Maybe the University marketing team or some group like that could put together something special.
I just think that it would be great to show this great Hawk some specail love from us fans. It would also send a message to the staff and team that "hey we are behind you and believe in where you are going". What do you guys think?
 
This is an excellent idea. Who's the contact in the marketing department who can get this going?

Also, I thought it would be great if everyone had a large photo of Jarryd's face, like they do with Fran.

Absolutely. I think they should pull out all stops,because of the special circumstances surrounding Cole and the program the last 4 years.
He is a 3 year captain,which is very rare,and has been a rock on the roster for 4 years,and is the only real senior(Sayre was only on the team for one year) to go thru that period and stick.

Make it a celebration of Jarryd Cole,the shining representative of the program,as he said,the survivor of this tumultuous period. And maybe there will be some recruits in the house,and show them how Iowa fans embrace their loyal players.
Maybe the emotions in the house will boost the Hawks to a win vs # 8,(and probably higher by then) rated Purdue...what a day for an upset!!

Juice it up,Hawk fans!!
 
Everybody here needs to e-mail Barta/marketing to get this going. Jarryd deserves a big send-off. There's not one Hawkeye that I've appreciated more than Jarryd Cole.

Jarryd is the best. Has been through so much since he got to Iowa. Recruited by Alford, played under Lickliter, was injured and rehabbed, and stuck it out after Lick was fired and Fran was hired. He has been good on the court and also in the community of Iowa City as well. He'll never be remembered by his mind blowing stats, but I'll always remember him for sticking with the Hawkeyes through thick and thin.

Rick Klatt says they already have some things in the works to recognize Jarryd, including some of the things mentioned above (didn't give specifics.)

Get to Carver, Hawk fans! Send Jarryd out on a high note and let the other guys know you support them. Let any recruits who are there know that Iowa basketball is back.
 
Thanks for the feedback guys. I did send an email to the athletic department. They are going to have a card to sign before the game.
