Janikowski

would all the moisture from the downpour help or hurt it though? I would think it would hurt a little. Or negate some of the advantage from the elevation. Elevation or not he is capable of 63 yarders anywhere.

I am in 2 leagues and run another, in none of them is a field goal from any distance worth more than 3 points. you want additional because your kicker it's from 60? you got them, in the form of the field goal that your guy hit that nobody else in the league made.

So in both of your leagues, a 20 yard fg is worth the same amount of points as a 50 yard fg? that makes sense. Why even have K as a position then?

It makes tons of sense. FG's from 63 are worth exactly the same as FG's from 18 yards. Again the benefit of having a kicker that can hit from 50+ routinely is that he picks up all those extra 3's that other guys cant.

So do field players only get points for TD's and 2 point conversions then? No points for yards? A 99 yard run is only worth the same as a 1 yard run.

Two different things. Gaining yardage helps the team. It puts the offense in a better position and gains field position. Kicking a filed goal from 60 yards helps the team no more than kicking a field goal from 20 yards. It's worth 3 points and you kick off to the other team. Leagues that give you more points for long field goals are almost as dumb as those that take away points for missed field goals. Guess what? A missed filed goal already costs your fantasy team 3 points, no need to start making up more ****.

I get what your saying, but I don't see how kicking a longer field goal doesn't help a team, in real life, more than kicking a short field goal. If you miss from 50, the other team gets the ball at their 40. If you miss from 20, they get the ball at their 10. So basically, making the longer field goal is more important than making a shorty, it is putting your team in a better position and gaining you field position, which is your argument for why offensive players get points for yardage.

Meh, just don't buy it. 3 points is 3 points regardless of how far my idiot kicker was away.

Kickers are hardly worth anything anyway in the fantasy game but you totally take away the strategy of drafting/acquiring a kicker when you do not award more points for kicking longer field goals. When I look at a kicker I look at his attempts and accuracy from 40 & 50 yards out.

It is stupid to compare fantasy football to real life football as the games are completely different.
