In the Iowa practice, what are they doing? Are they working on individual drills, maybe 3 on 2 sets, working on screening? Can someone fill us in on what they are actually working on during practice?

Also, with AT traveling to OSU this weekend, has he been a part of on court drills with the team? Has this increased over the past few days? If he is rotating with the team, what position is he playing primarily?

They practice passing the ball crisply around the perimeter for 30 seconds and then one of them shoots a three?

By watching their offense for 2 1/2 years that about sums it up.

Unless they play a team that is small as they are. Then they try to work it into the middle. Unfortunately in the Big 10, most of the teams have bigger men than we do so we are unable to feed the post so we save those games for Tennessee St, and other teams that are bottom feeders.

The big men that Iowa does have are out at the top of the key setting picks so others can shoot three's instead of trying to post up.

And then our subs imitate the next team we play and we play man to man defense to get ready for the next game. For instance, Lil lick will imitate Buford...

I've watched two practices this year. NMhawk is correct that they do practice passing the ball around the perimeter quickly and crisply for a good amount of time. This has shown results in our half court defense during games this year. Not done a whole lot on the offensive side of the ball. But it does make me shake my head that they can pass the ball quickly and sharply in practice, but once we get to the game it's like they are stuck in slow motion.

Believe it or not, they spend a huge amount of time shooting(it would be understandable if it were assumed we never practiced shooting, since the we have missed more open shots than any team in history). From every spot on the floor. Not just from beyond the arc. They also do spend some time practicing fast breaks and inbound plays. I personally think this is a waste of time since it never is allowed in the games. I think TL would be better served using that alloted time on more passing the ball around the perimeter.

Lots of conditioning. Remember how the first day of basketball practice was always the worst. You're pumped for scrimmaging and instead get Indiana transition and Maravich drills. I'd say that would be an accurate assessment of an Iowa practice. Their practice tempo is quicker than you would imagine, going from drill to drill. So from the cheap seats there seems a method to the madness.
