It’s officially Stanley season

It’s that time of year where the Stanley led Hawks have crapped the bed in big games and are out of running for the BIG West so we can expect him to start lighting it up.

Pressure off just playing for a bowl Stanley is one of the best I’ve seen.

Not to say we don’t get massacred by the badgers and lose close games to Purdue and Minnesota but Stanley will start playing better.

That last drive when we were down 2 possessions he looked decent. Shame he can't make big plays in crunch time when it's a 1 possession game.

Doesn't this describe the entire Iowa program? When the pressure is off they play better, when the lights are bright they fail

I don't know. I think the defense has done alright when they've been in the spotlight.

True.

But, how much of that is because the opponents haven't had to worry much about scoring? Both offenses we've faced "in the spotlight" have stayed pretty conservative. Not that Michigan is a juggernaut on that side anyway.

True, but easy to stay conservative when the opposing offense is showing no signs of life. Honestly I think our chances would improve if the opponents weren't so conservative as we'd at least have an increased chance of forcing turnovers which poses the opportunity for the defense to put points on the board.

If UW is good enough to win at Ohio State then they are a legitimate top 6 team nationally and the fact that we can’t win a division they are in isn’t all that embarrassing.

Just my two cents, but based on what they've done so far this season in comparison to what we've done this season makes me feel that not winning a division they are in isn't all that embarrassing. Someone has to win the division and we're sure not passing the eye test.
