IT'S A GIVEN!

Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State & Wisconsin will finish ahead of Iowa next season. All four teams have better talent & coaching than Iowa. At best Iowa will be 10-8 in the conference. There is no Freddie Brown, John Johnson, Ronnie Lester, Sam Williams or a bunch of McDonald's All-Americans on this team.

Unless, the new point guard is the second coming of Lester, 10-8 will be a very good year. Iowa needs a great player, not a good player like Marble. Let's face it, Iowa needs to elevate its talent level. Fran realizes this as evidenced by his going after two of the better junior college players. I like Fran. His hard work at recruiting reminds me of Ralph & Lute.

Columbus, I believe Fran is doing his absolute best to get those "great" players to come to Iowa...The players he has now are a lot better than what we did have, and hopefully that trend continues......I like the kids he has coming in next year, and the kids he's starting to get in on early...give it time, but I do agree, the above teams mentioned are light years ahead (it seems) than the Hawks right now....Bo Ryan has coached 13 years @ Wisconsin and has 13 years in the NCAA's...who the hell wouldn't want to play there, same goes for Izzo, Matta.......Fran has his own belief, his own game, and his own set of rules as to what will spell success....he just doesn't have the kids yet, but he will, keep the faith...

It's a given that Ohio State stinks. That they are recruiting cheats. And it is definitely a given that Craft is a hack.

Weird day to rip Craft.

Craft's last sec shot rolled off at the buzz....and down they go.

As much as I did not like Craft throughout his career, that guy is GUTTY. We need a Craft or two on our team. We didn't even have a quarter Craft this season.

Are you factoring in early leaves for the NBA? I havnt really looked at how the B1G stacks up next year. It just seems the chase that it's going to be tough for Iowa to match the potential that this years squad had. But maybe that'll really push White/Gabe and Woodbury to really put a strong foot forward.

Fran is going to have to coach quite a bit differently next year I believe. Who knows though the development of Jok, maybe somehow Kyle Meyer begins adding something, or Dickerson and Uhl could overachieve.

Nothing is a given. It's a long season and a lot it is about keeping chemistry and desire up at a high level, not just talent. See Syracuse, they looked like they belonged in another Division beyond NCAA at one point, then dropped to Boston College and went on to limp through ACC. Or Kentucky the last couple years. Talent alone won't cut it, as it didn't this year for the Hawks.

Consistent desire is the key. There is plenty in the season to happen between players or on the court, off the court, to tamper your drive. And come march, you better have each player on the bench able to smile in the midst of any adversity or pressure.

He missed the game winner but he made 3-4 good plays down the stretch. Actually, he almost hit the game winner through 3 guys. He's annoying but played very well for them today.

I predict Iowa at 11-7 next year in the B1G. I don't know where that will be in the standings...haven't looked at other schedules just Iowa's. I suspect that will contend for a 1st round BTT bye. I like what we have coming back. I also like our new guys. This looks like a competitive rotation to me.

1 - Gesell/Dickerson/Clemmons (if still around)
2 - Jok/Oglesby/Gesell
3 - Uthoff/Jok
4 - White/Uthoff/Olaseni
5 - Woodbury/Olaseni

My guess is at least 1 of the 2 freshman will contribute. It also looks highly probable that Fran is going to add another player to contribute right away.

This. I hate playing against him so I'm glad there's no more of that. That said, I haven't heard anything about him being an ***. Sucks to see a B1G team go down, but they fought.

I wouldn't say those teams will finish ahead of Iowa next year. Iowa is going to have their most talented team in a long time. They will have a lot of high division 1 talent. Indiana recruits are always highly thought of and they didn't even go to the NIT this year. Next year, if they recruit another juco this spring, they will have a team full of upperclassmen with experience. The next couple of years are going to be good for Iowa basketball. Fran is going to bring in more highly thought of recruits every year too. With the teams added athletism and experience its going to be a lot easier for Iowa to score, and their defense should be a lot stronger. Frans first four teams pretty much disappeared offensively in a lot of games, but I think that will be history next year. There will be a lot of talent some of the other teams will bring in, but Iowa will be talented with experience. That should be a tough combination to beat.

6th in the big two years in a row I predict the same for next year until they prove me wrong.
