As I write this it's the end of the 1st quarter and, as you all know, we're down 21-0. We may regroup, find our toughness and make it a game... or even win... Or... We may get blown out 56-0.

I don't really care. I'd prefer a victory or even a good showing... But no matter what happens I will not melt down... I will not criticize the players or the coaching staff... Because it's been one hell of GREAT year for Hawkeye football and the future looks bright.

The problem is EVERYONE will remember only this shellacking. They will remember one of the worst games by a college quarterback ever and they will remember that we finally played a decent team and got rolled. The 12-0 regular season was exciting but means nothing. We never win the big games its Iowa football that's what people remember.

I feel sad for you. As I look back on this season in years to come there will be about 100 things that will come to mind before any of that.
 
This is bad.....real bad. It is like we didn't watch any film or practice since the Mich St game. And the new OLine combo to start the game has just been awful. That, and our LBs are playing even worse than they did against TN last year.

Complete ******** Vork!! That 12-0 season means more than you think.. Unreal the stupidity I see on this site right now.. Wow!! Some of you need to step away from HN and take a break, a very long break!!
 
Yeah, WAS. This woodshed beating is going to cast a big shadow on it. This game makes us look like frauds.

So if Iowa goes 12-0 against the same crap schedule next year, and WINS the title game, you think they're going to be in the playoff?

They won't be. Not after this. That's how bad of a loss this is. It ends TWO seasons.

Iowa was a solid team that took advantage of an easy schedule - but they clearly don't belong on the big stage. 12-2 is nice, but this is maybe an Outback Bowl level program, which they lost 2 years ago.

4 straight bowl losses now, barring a miracle.

I'll take all of that you want to cover. No undefeated B1G champion will EVER be excluded from the playoffs... period.

Four straight bowl games many teams wish they'd qualified for. 12-2 baby... feel the love!
 
Right now, twenty years from now the conversation will start something like....

"Hey, remember the 2016 Rose Bowl when the Hawks performed the one of the greatest comebacks in history?"

OR

"Hey, remember the 2016 Rose Bowl when the Hawks got demolished by Stanford? Wasn't that the same year they went 12-0?"

I'm still hoping for a comeback. Yeah, it's a nearly impossible feat, but I'm hoping anyways. People will remember 12-0, but a bad Rose Bowl loss will forever put a damper on the great season.
