It Is Official: BTN IS "Anti-Iowa" Network

Last week, OSU has a bye week. They still got mentions each day on the shows, blah blah blah.

EVERY other team, before their bye week, has received "What does ______ need to do during their bye week, Howard/Gerry/"Mace"?"

This week? Almost ZERO O$U mentions, EXCEPT for whether or not they should root for Michigan to run the table up to their meeting in November. ZERO mention of who O$U plays THIS week. When they have shown teams' remaining schedules, it's almost a wonder they don't digitize/redact that team's date of their game against Iowa.

You think its bad now? Wait until we go East and West divisions. The BTN will play ball with the eastern schools and the big media outlets with a passing mention of Nebraska because of their history and Wisconsin until they fade back to mediocrity. Do you really think Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, and Northwestern are going to get any face time? Forget it! They will be the BTN starring Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State while they try to prop up Maryland and Rutgers to capture the $ on the east coast. Oh, what will we do with Purdue?

I think Purdue has dropped football.

If Iowa was 6 and 0, all you would hear about would be this game. Iowa is a middle to lower half of the Big 10 the last year 3 1/2 years and trending in the wrong direction. If Iowa wants respect then they need to go out and earn it. They could take a huge step on Saturday but I'm guessing we might see a Michigan State beat down like 1999.

Man that was an epic beat down. There was nothing MSU could wrong in that game. If Saban wasn't a friend of KFs it could have been worse.

And basketball? We might as well drop the sport - it'll never be on broadcast, just internet

When we stop sucking... the good press will come. I can only imagine the chuckle-fests backstage in Chicago when they watch KFz's high-school coaching performances. I'm sure the production crews are making side bets every time our opponent lines up to punt.

FWIW...they did talk about iowa on one of the shows last night, well 2 nights ago now, on "the pulse". They were talking avout osu's schedule, and if anyone had an outside shot of beating them before the mich game. They said only Iowa and whoever osu plays the following week might have a 1% chance, the other 3 teams zippo. So there's that...

...but in reality, do you expect them, or anyone to talk about iowa if we're not good?

Uh, that's my point. Even in 2009, most of what we heard was "When will it end?" and "Is Iowa that good or just lucky?" Rarely did we see any analyses of why we were winning at the clip we were. And of course, all the talking heads were picking us to lose damn near every week until we played Indiana and Northwestern.

Dude, Iowa football is not relevant yet. They suck and until they beat a top 25 team do not deserve extra air time. Beign reallyy good three years ago does not mean you get air time today. Beat somebody and they'll get noticed again.

Beg to differ that Iowa should be short changed on BTN due to mediocre football fortunes at this time. The national media, ESPN, etc. can do as they wish. But, if they are going to carry the name The Big Ten Network, equality for the member schools would seem to me to be appropriate. The audience is after all, the fans of the member schools. And, the revenue stream comes to the BTN from all BT schools...and, yes, I know that all member schools share in the proceeds...as they should. Just to be clear, given that Iowa's BB program will likely get lots of attention on BTN this year, I firmly believe that all BT basketball programs should get plenty of face time. Just my opinion...
