People are really bagging on the OLine and running game and saying Goodson has lost a step. Yeah let's look at the running game stats:
After the hawks went up 27-10 early in the 4th qtr I think Iowa had 3 possessions. I think all 3 possessions were 3 and out with very basic runs into a stacked defense. So there are 9 carries there for about 9 net yards iirc.
Now minus out Petras' -23 yards overall on 7 carries
The running backs got 90 yards on 31 carries if my quick math is correct for right at 3 yards per carry which is not great but not bad against a really good defense stacked to stop the run. And if you subtract out the run out the clock, conservative, protect the ball 4th qtr carries you get 21 carries for 80 yards or 4 yards per carry by the running backs. That is workable and will get better as we can pass better off schedule on 1st downs to back off the defenses.
Again by our running backs without a starting lineman against two tough defenses that main average per carry is ok.
