Is this the worst Iowa defense in

The defense is definitely a concern .. especially the dline. You can't let any quarterback stand back there that long. Chance brought his 'A' game. Not taking anything away from him, but we had absolutely no pressure on him all game. All game I kept asking how UNI managed to get in the ISU backfield all game while our dlinemen were nowhere to be found.

I don't know if it's the worst but it is a continuation of last years defense. We needed them to show up the last five minutes of the game when we had the lead and they were nowhere to be found. You should never give up a first down on a 3rd and 20.

It's only the second game, so it is a little early to tell, but let's be honest - the first 2 games certainly as hell put them in the running.

Our d-line is getting no pressure whatsoever...

The last 5,6,7 years I would beg a team to run at us (that's why we have been so successful against PSU) but that is not the case this year. For me it all starts with a strong run against the D and I dont think we have that this year. I think we have good players and will play hard but we have a real weakness...

This is the same D as last year and if we had the same talent, the D would be better. By how much, who knows. The problem this year is that we lost a ton of talent and we play the same D. We all loved it when we blitzed because it mostly worked. The problem for us is that it is not in line with what we do normally and it killed us that we didn't blitz until it was way too late.

Agree with most everything being said. D-line could not contain, had zero pressure, and does not look like typical physical Iowa line. Our coverage was soft (so what else is new). No playmakers to be found anywhere today when needed. Was out of state for first game, but based on what I saw today, I am trying to figure out the heck we can beat?

KF teams always seem to get better as year goes along, and we really need that to happen in a hurry. We will face much better QB's than Jantz and he made us look bad (God it hurts to say that).

Sun will come up tomorrow. GO HAWKS!!!

Stay with the same philosophy overall.... just throw in some wrinkles throughout a game so we give a team something different to deal with. I think we just wear are kids out with what we do now...

Our defense did not play well enough to win. Not to single out one guy, but Castillo (#2) is really out of place, he is not a D1 starter by any means and he is a serious weakness. Having a somewhat slow, 5'7'' corner matching up against big, talented receivers is a problem. And it showed against ISU.

Yeah, I hate to bag on a kid, and I dont even care if he has the size or looks the part, but he just hasnt made the plays (that I've seen). I haven't focused on him every play but when it has gone his way he hasn't had a lot of break-ups, INT's, solid hits, etc. I'd like to see Bernstein get a shot and see Lowery when he recovers from IR.
