Is ND any good?

They have played as easy of a schedule as Iowa did pre-Bahamas, and are 5-1 with their lone loss to Indiana State. They are long and rank second in the country in assists per game.

It almost feels like a trap game for Iowa. On paper we are the better team, but after playing 3 games in 3 days, and then having an extra long layover on the way home, it just has that sort of feel to it.

On a side note, it will be a homecoming of sorts as Gabe will be going against on of his former teammates, and a player Iowa heavily recruited in Eric Katenda. He probably won't see the floor but in high school he was the better player between him and Gabe. He suffered an eye injury in a pickup game a few years ago and is now blind in one eye because of it. SI had a story on it a year ago.

Iowa will have some jet lag, they flew from Bahamas Sat night after the game and had to stop at customers at 7am Sunday so they pulled an all-nighter travelling. Can't be good even for college kids.

Not really. I've watched nearly all their games (even went to one)

Atkins is a smart point guard. Grant can shoot but he takes dumb shots and their bigs are strong but unathletic. We better beat honestly though the fact that we just played the tournament concerns me. This is their first road game though and Carver should be loud.

I watched them play the other night. I think we are the better team and will get the win, especially at home. I do worry about their ability to hit 3's.

As long as ND doesn't hit a bunch of contested threes like Villanova did (they can) we'll beat them. They play a lot like Wisconsin on the offensive end, they're methodical but take only smart shots, they aren't that great at the defensive end though.

They also had to make in emergeny landing in Atlanta after going through customs in Orlando. The landing was due to an oil light that came on.

Good or not, IA just need to beat them silly ON ESPN2 to get some of the bitter taste of the Big East kool-aid from the Atlantis tournament out of the national viewership. Go Hawks!

Don't know anything about the Domers but am certain, if Iowa loses this game, this late in the preseason (25% of the season is gone, ya know) it's a sure sign of a multitude of weaknesses. Not the least of which is being mentally and physically soft for not being able to handle 4 physical games against top 100 competition, 2-ot's and an all-night flight on a puddle-jumper, in 6 days. Just can't expect to be in a position to make the dance if ya can't even handle that sort of turn-around.

Also, Notre Dame is typically a team that struggles early and gets good in their conference season (kind of like Wisconsin also) We're catching them at a good time.

Steaming pile of ********. Of "Grade A" quality. Losing to Notre Dame will not ruin our chances of making the NCAA tournament. And - not taking into account the "trip lag" factor in any way is an error in judgement. Nobody is presenting that as an excuse - just a possible factor.

Good enough to handle Iowa.

Handle Iowa? We'll see about that. It certainly won't be the most stunning upset of the season if ND wins but my definition of handling a team is to win by at least 15 and never really be tested in the game. By my definition I will be in total shock if ND "handles" Iowa.

They did handle Indiana State.
