Is it time for us to be talking about Iowa having an elite offense as well?

In the past, almost every year since 2002, our defense kept us in games and our offense was nothing if not opportunistic.

This year, we easily could hav put 50+ on the board both weeks. We are racking up huge yardage, going for it and making it on fourth down, stretching the field with bombs, opening up huge holes on the ground. Things are really clicking.

My point as we head into Zona week... this will be by far the best offense we've faced so far, but is their defense better than ISU with all their turnover? If so, I think it is only marginally better.

So while I fully expect a dogfight between their offense and our defense, I do think we are going to be able to score on them, although not at will like the last two weeks.

This will likely be the first week Stanzi and co. finish the game, so if we can hang 31+ on the board over four quarters of first teamers, I like our chances.

I just don't think anyone will be able to score that many points on our defense.

What I like about the offense so far is that when it comes to third downs, we're still executing.

vs. EIU: 7 of 11
vs. ISU: 7 of 14

So, in two weeks, we've converted 14 of 25 third downs, which is 56%, which is an unbelievably good clip.

I've loved what I've seen thus far with the offensive patience Iowa has shown. This team is all business. They don't take deep shots until they have a comfortable lead....perfect. Defense will remain fresh, hungry, and ferocious.

This team has the highest of goals and has the maturity to keep the blinders on. It's lookin' good.

Yes after re-watching the ISU game our line is playing very, very well. I mean as a group they are really getting it done, Kirk alluded to this in his post game mentioning how surprised he is with our line. Nice thing is it isn't healthy yet. This offense has the ability to hit you deep with 3 different receivers, pound you with AROB, and scat back you with Hampton. Going to cause D coordinators some nightmares.

My point as we head into Zona week... this will be by far the best offense we've faced so far, but is their defense better than ISU with all their turnover? If so, I think it is only marginally better. Arizona has not seen an offense like ours yet...however Stoops has his guys in place and they will prepare. When you coach against your alma mater you want to win!

You may be surprised at how easily our offense may be able to score. I really believe 30 points a game is doable by this group, barring melt downs of course.

This will likely be the first week Stanzi and co. finish the game, so if we can hang 31+ on the board over four quarters of first teamers, I like our chances. If this team can average 28+ we can beat ANY TEAM ANY GIVEN DAY.

I just don't think anyone will be able to score that many points on our defense.

Before we can say "elite" lets play a defense worth it's salt.
Like Penn State or Ohio State maybe Wisconsin.
If we can hang a 30+ on those teams then yes they are "elite".

I agree to a point with you...however, these guys we talk of: DJK, McNutt, AROB, Jewel, Reisner are proven quantities. Our O line is preparing everyday against the best D line in the country. I believe we have an "elite" offense right now.
