Is Aaron White the next Larry Bird?

Was watching Espn Classic today as well as reading the boards. Seems to me I am not the only one that thinks this. Is Aaron White going to lead us to the Championship game against Marcus Paige??? Paige vs. White ala Magic vs. Bird.

Wow dumb post not even close IMO...White is way better.

When I saw the first video of AW, I thought. Hm, kid is good. When I saw the second video, I called him Larry Bird who can dunk... He is just always around the ball. He has great vision, ball handling skills, a nose for the ball, a good shot, can rebound and plays decent d. He is just in the right place, at the right time. Very Larry like.

DO NOT compare anyone to Larry Legend, the greatest basketball player to ever lace up a pair of weapons. Better than Magic, Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, etc. Greatest ever, not even debatable.

Slow it on the Jordan comparison. Lets not get carried away.

Bird is one of the most awesome players of all time. One little diddy. Years ago, I was in DM to watch Indiana State play Drake. My buddy and I got there early to watch the shoot around. Bird came out and started shooting. He hit a couple from the baseline, a couple from the freethrow line. He hit about 10 in a row and we dicided to bet on how many he would hit in a row. Well, he shot for maybe 25 minutes from the arc, layups, the baseline, the free throw line, and he never missed a shot. Now I have played maybe 2000 games in my time and was a pretty good shooter, but I have never seen a player shoot like that. I mean he shot 20 from three and drained them all. White is my favorite player and if you go back seveal months and review my posts you will see that I said that three months ago. He is not Larry Bird. Bird was the most unathletic player of all time but maybe the smartest and best shooter that will ever play the game. I heard a recent interview with him where he said that coming out of HS the people in the know said "he's from a small school that didn't play anybody". When he came out of college they said " he's from a mid-major that didn't have the competition". When he was in his first year in the NBA, he thought, "these guys aren't that good". When he played the Lakers he thought "I can win some Championships". As much as I love the talent of White, he's not Bird.

White is better than most. He will be a force for three more years and will play at the next level and be very good. He is gifted and a winner. Glad we have him.

Yes, he is a reasonable shadow of the Immortal Larry Bird, who I saw play against Drake at Vet's Auditorium. Larry lit it up for 53 points or thereabouts.....

His play reminds me of Bird's at times, especially his basketball savvy and ability to anticipate and be around the ball at all times.....

Larry Bird was one of the deadliest three point assassins ever to play the game, not only that, he was regarded by his peers as the deadliest trash talker in the game. He got into his opponents heads throughout the games.

People who make Larry Bird comparisons have no clue what they are talking about.

There is no comparing Bird to anyone. Bird was one of the most unique players ever, just being a great shooter was only a part of what he did. He dominated the best athletes of his time because his instincts for the game were freakish.

To put it in perspective Dirk Nowitzki is the guy most people want try and compare to him and Dirk is not even half the player Larry was.

Aaron White is awesome but he will never come anywhere close to being Larry Bird and most likely neither will anyone else.

Larry Bird would be a more mans Kyle Korver in todays world

Wrong.

Bird in his prime was ungaurdable, he would be the best player in the league.

Bird killed the best players of his day, which includes the likes of Scottie Pippen, Denis Rodman, Micheal Jordan, Michael Cooper, Dominique Wilkins ect.

Denis Rodman was a better defender than anyone currently playing other than maybe Kevin Garnet.

There was a point in time not very long ago where Steve Nash was dominating the NBA and Steve Nash is a half sized poor mans Larry Bird.

You took the bait. For how young I am you would belive I would think Larry would suck in todays league. Larry would dominate even today and from my generation very few believe that.

Nobody will be the next Larry Bird, but Aaron's play at times reminds me of the way Larry played. Of course, Aaron is quite a long way from being comparable to Larry Bird.

Larry shot the three better than anyone will ever do. Bird would tell whoever was guarding him, at crunch time, that he was going to shoot the game winning three right in front of him. Couldn't be stopped. Made more game winning shots than anyone I can remember.....

:D
