I may me caught up in the euphoric high of the Holiday Bowl beatdown, but the thought has struck me on numerous occasions this year that Iowa's overall speed and athleticism are slowly improving. In 13 games this year, I didn't see any mismatches for Iowa on the field. I feared we would see one against USC, but for the most part we matched up with them. Sure, we lost some games in 2019, but we were competitive in every game. This also applies to 2018, when we played a very quick Mississippi State team in the Outback Bowl.
I think this may bode well for 2020 and 2021 as we continue to chase that elusive Big West title.
