Thoughts?

I don't have an opinion either way on the female coaches, mostly because I don't have a clue what's true or not, but to compare coaches & sports that "cost money" vs those that "make money" is where I draw a line. KF and I suppose Fran and Brands are coaches whose programs have to support the rest of the athletic department. Therefore, shouldn't they be judged and dealt with differently? I'm not saying the field hockey coach deserved to be fired or not, but to compare her "behavior" with that of the coach that runs a program that supports hers and the rest of the athletic department isn't fair IMO, or at the very least, is naive.

We don't have all the details ... nor should we since this may be an "HR" issue. Life is not always fair ... people get fired ... for good and bad reasons. Coaches don't have tenure and she had a buyout in her contract. Life moves on.

Sayonara ******........don't let the barn door hit you in ...........on the way out.

Dahm, the baseball coach got let-go within the past year, or so. Why no whiney, squaky, 'jihad' against Iowa when that happened? But, then again, Dahm was very well liked by his players, no abuse claims with him.

It's over ............give it a freakin rest people.

She GONE

No idea what really happened but STFU and move on. As is the case with most HR crap there is always a whole lot more under the surface than can be put down on paper in this lawsuit happy world we live in.

Could be double standard going on. Something smells rotten. Though it is interesting on how some can do no wrong and others get the axe.

You can draw the line wherever you wish but it is well-established law that revenue-producing sports aren't exempt from Title IX compliance.

You might want to read up on that. And you can't "judge and deal" with two sports differently, where one is a male sport and the other female.

And before anyone goes off on the merits of Title IX, your daughter, sister and mother have benefited immensely. For one thing, check the participation statistics before implementation vs. after implementation of the law.

It might be interesting for this case to go to trial but I am not so sure Barta wouldn't push for settlement.

Why?

The female coaches keep bringing up the rhabdo incident. Would you want to be Barta trying to explain to a judge or jury why you fired a female coach for verbal abuse (if that's what is going on here), but a few years ago the football coach who was in charge of the strength and conditioning coach who contributed to the hospitalization of 13 players was never reprimanded, but instead given an award?

That might be an easily proven double standard/discrimination issue. ??

Plus it sounds like there would be a few former Hawkeye coaches willing to testify for the plaintiff.

Any lawyers want to weigh in?
