Iowas 2015 Recruiting rank. WOW

Is it sad to say that we are ranked with the 55th (per 247sports) best recruiting class in the nation? Are you kidding me? Teams like Indiana, Purdue, Vandy, and Syracuse are able to recruit better players? But hey Kirk is feeling good with a better class than Iowa State or a team like Kansas. C'mon your tellign me we can't recruit any better talent? WOW

That is sad if it pans out that way. I dont follow recruiting too much for football until mid-Jan to signing day.

But top 10 revenue producer
I would guess overall a top 30-35 team over the last 35 years

that deservers better but maybe some diamonds in the rough.

Yeah it's pathetic. Then again if I'm guaranteed $4million for the next 5 years what incentive is it to me to work my tail off going to small towns across the Midwest hoping a 17 year old comes to play my boring brand of football? I almost feel that's where Kirk is at. Don't tell me for one second that we pegged on our recruiting board 12 two star athletes and ZERO 5 star kids. It's a complacent staff that isn't getting pushed either by Kirk and or Gary. There no incentive and thus no motivation to do better.

Let's hope for 15 diamonds in the rough my man

No worries. I'm sure we'll victimize some poor MAC schools and steal away some studs they thought they had in the bag to really bolster the final spots.

I am torn on this class. It actually has many good pieces to it, and also a lot of the first line offers that they put out, and only a few fall back guys. The offensive recruits are light years better than the defensive recruiting his year.

The good:
Waechter
Paulsen twins
Newborg
Daniels
Boyle
Cook

QB & OL
All of the linemen and QB's in this class were top of the board kids for Iowa and staff. These were the #1 targets on the board and they got them.

RB
Higdon was a guy that they also targeted pretty early, stayed on and eventually got. He is a 4* in some services, or high 3 in others. Either way, a quality get at RB.
Markel Smith is the other RB I assume they will get which he was a 4* coming out of HS as well.....If he qualifies that is.

TE
Vejvoda was a second or third option at TE when they missed on who they really wanted

WR
Ogwo, Falconer, Smith are all very good athletes with high top end speed. I simply don't know how to judge Iowa recruiting WR under GD. I do like the types of players they are bringing in, they are much faster and more athletic than in the past.

The defensive recruiting has been a struggle big time. They have missed on nearly every high priority target they have tried with. It is odd since Iowa usually has pretty good defenses and usually get a few of its high priority defensive targets. This class is fill with projects in: Reiff, Slater, Jinning. The one guy I really like is Hockaday, he had offers from Nebraska, Missouri, and Ill.

This class could still be good if:
-If Iowa can still get Talan (Oregon St. commit, Nebraska is going after hard now) at LB
-Iowa can flip Nebraska DE commit Daishon Neal (taking an official to Iowa after coaching change)
-Iowa could get Chris Hart DE who is down to UNC, Utah and Iowa...if they miss on Neal. They are also trying to flip a Badger DE commit as well.

If Iowa has to settle for fallbacks at both the LB and DE positions, that would mean that every defensive recruit this year was a fallback guy (except Hockaday). That would be extremely disappointing.

Wait a minute...you expect us to believe that Boyle and Cook were the #1 QB prospects this $5 mill per year coaching staff targeted in the entire 2015 recruiting class? Not only are you wrong, but that is just laughable. Virtually no other coach in the country thought either one of them were even an adequate QB prospect. Boyle is a small, running QB who played on bar none the most talented high school team in the state of Iowa. His only college offers besides Ferentz were Montana State and Western Michigan. THAT is the very best qb in the land that we offered a scholarship to? Or perhaps Cook, who no other college coach in the land thinks will play QB in college. ISU didn't even offer the guy.

So while I appreciate your positive spin, because there is little to be positive about at this stage, at least make a credible argument.

Iowa had a commit from a 4* QB at the time, and they still wanted Boyle and Cook.

You have obviously never seen Boyle play. He isn't small, he is 6'1 and 215 lbs. That is bigger than Stanzi (193), CJ (180 lbs), JR (190 lbs). Heck I think CJ and JR are both under that weight currently.

You have obviously lost any grasp whatsoever to look at any Iowa situation with some objectively. It is hate on everything 110% of the time for douchenozzles like you. You will hate on Iowa after the bowl game for not playing CJ, for playing CJ some, or for playing CJ extended minutes. It really doesn't matter what they do, you will hate on it. Why don't you just root for the Clowns, as your support for Iowa would be the same if you cheered for them or Iowa at this point.

Iowa high school football is absolutely pathetic. Neither one of these guys will do crap at QB for us. Wait Clueless is such a smart guy that he sees something that every other coach in FBS didn't see in these 2. God we're so fortunate to have such a great evaluator of talent, and stellar recruiter in Clueless.

Gee... here's a thought that a couple of the geniuses above might consider... has a coaching staff ever recruited high school players at a given position having no intention of them playing that position in college?

Iowalegalmalpractice is too busy hating everything Hawkeye to have an opinion any thinking person would find credible in the least.
