Bre Cera was granted her release to transfer. She was an excellent defender who started 18 games last year. Good luck to her in the future.

I believe she was going to lose minutes big time this year. Defense was her thing and I wish her the best wherever she goes.

UI Release:

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa freshman Bre Cera has been granted a transfer release, head coach Lisa Bluder announced Tuesday.

“We appreciate the contributions Bre has made to our team on and off the court as a Hawkeye,” said Bluder. “We wish her the best as she pursues a career closer to home.”

Cera played in 31 games with 18 starts in her freshman campaign. The Mukwonago, Wisconsin, native averaged two points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

That's too bad, not only is she a good basketball player, but she's also a very friendly person. I enjoyed getting to meet her last year very much. We will miss her.

On a happier note summer workouts have started. Here is the team picture minus Christina Buttenham and Amanda Ollinger

Why was she going to lose minutes? Makes me wonder if there was more to the story as is often the case.
When I've asked most said she was homesick and her younger sister got a scholarship offer at a Wisconsin school close to home. I don't know that she would have lost minutes. She played less at the end of the year mostly because of the concussion she suffered.

Just an opinion. If Amanda has progressed I believe she'd of taken minutes away from her. The key would be if Jinaya Houston is going to start right away. Hagarwood have you heard if the little Meyer has given a verbal? There's rumors out there.

Yes, Megan Meyer has verballed to Iowa. I believe she is a 2019 grad, but I could be wrong.
