Iowa will not finish 4-8 next season because...............................

1) Weak non conference schedule and the clones will be very, very bad next year. I am predicting that Iowa will beat them and that the clones will win three games at the most next year. That's at least 3 wins right there.

2) I've said this before: The hawks will have to try very hard to have a worse offense than they had in 2012. Translation - the offense simply can not get any worse and if the qb is just ok, they'll beat at least two more games after the non con schedule.

I know I am surprising some as you may think that I'd pick them to do worse than last season.

Your thoughts?

FreedComanche

PS: I am not a clone hater, but they are gonna be absolutely horrible next year. They lose so much.

I tend to agree with you. I certainly don't see any better than 6-6, but I was wrong almost all year long last year so who the hell knows? I think the running attack should be solid and the defensive line has to be better and the QB has to be better.

Hey Freed, how you been?

I don't know if Iowa will finish better than 4-8 but I think the team as a whole will be better. I don't think the conference schedule does them any favors. Plus I don't think ISU will be horrible next season, maybe early in the season they will be but I think by the end of the season they might end up with a better record than Iowa, but who knows.

Isu will be very bad next year. Paul Rhoads said last season's team was by far the best talent he'd had since he'd been there and look how they did. They finished with an even steven reg season record. Big deal! He'll have worse talent than last year and he'll still be in the second toughest conference in the country.

Freed your confusing me man. I agree about the Clones. I think they lost a lot of people that had been in the program a long time. 4-5 year guys. I predict we wont be 4-8 because we will be 8-4 We will be improved and will win the close ones next year.

I take anything any coach says about anything as "Coach speak", nothing more, nothing less.

I agree they lost a ton of experienced talent but Paul Rhoads subs more often than Iowa and their recruiting hasn't been completely horrible like it used to be.

If Iowa was playing ISU in Iowa City, I would feel a lot better about the game.

Don't know how I'm confusing you. I think the hawks will still be bad, just not as bad as 2012. They will still have a talent deficit against big 10 competition and yes, will still have a coaching defecit as well. However, they have three horrible teams on their non on schedule and there will be around 2 teams in the big 10 that are almost as bad as the hawks. So, I guess I am calling for five wins next year.

Im just messing with you. Go back and read my awnser to your post on the Grim Outlook Thread. I have been waiting to hear what you have to say.

Iowa won't be 4-8 because Greg Davis's playbook will not have any surprises for Northern Illinois, Minnesota or Michigan State bince they now have film on him with Iowa. 2-10.

I hear ya, but maybe it's just that I can not imagine an Iowa team finishing with less than 5 wins two years in a row. If they do go 2-10, I'll probably ignore them till ferentz is gone.

I don't know that I would ignore them but I probably won't buy any gear or go to any games, less I got free tickets.

By the way if they do go 2-10 next season, it's over for ferentz. No way he can recover from one bad season and one horrible season back to back even if he's there for three years after that.

I agree, if they go 2-10 he is done. If not, he better hope for a 10 win season in '14. Anything less he is gone.

Freed is right, if we go 2-10 KF is in BIG trouble. Not saying he would lose his job but its over. I just dont think we will. If we do I am totaly miss reading this situation. But I dont think I am.

Just to remind everybody. I am not calling for them to go 2-10. I am calling for them to win 5 games, which is still disgusting. If you are right and they go 8-4, there will be no more heat on ferentz.

I would bet you that they won't 8 games.

FreedComanche

But I look at next seasons schedule and I feel comfortable predicting Iowa to win 2 of them. After the year we had and considering Iowa is graduating a couple of key players in what was a horrible offense. I do not know how anyone can expect Iowa to improve to 6 wins next season.

Excuse me while I go throw up now.

LASBUR, what record do you think Iowa needs next season to ease the heat off him?

I think 7 or more, I think 6-6 won't ease the heat going into '14 season unless they go to a bowl and blow someone out.

I think we will win between 7-9 games. Just depends on how many things go our way. I belive you are going to see some big changes. I think people will be surprised at what happens in the next Month or so. A heck of a lot depends on how much our DL improves and how much the new WR coach can get done early in the season
