This was news to me. Iowa wants to play on Black Friday and Nebraska does not. At least according to the Scott Dochterman who's answer I copied below.

ANSWER
: I’m fairly sure Iowa and Wisconsin will play on Black Friday in 2020 and 2021. Iowa officials have let it be known they want to play that day, and the former Nebraska administration’s desire to move the season finale to a Saturday was the primary reason the four westernmost teams jumbled their future schedules. Former Nebraska athletics director Shawn Eichorst clearly misread his fan base on this topic and it cost him his job (along with other factors, of course).

Big Ten officials said there’s now a rotation among Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin for the final weekend. It’s hard to say if 2022 or 2023 will have Iowa-Wisconsin, Iowa-Minnesota or Iowa-Nebraska as the finale. I just think this is unfortunate after the nine years of equity the Big Ten put into Iowa-Nebraska as a season-ending series on Black Friday.

Interesting... I wonder if there is any chance a new AD could lobby to get it back. I still can't believe they were crazy enough to give it up.
I think they (NE) wants out of that national spot light because we have handed them their asses 2 years straight and will be 3 in a row this late November. Husker football has just tanked.

I work Black Friday mandatory, can't wait for Iowa to get off that day and back to Saturday so I can see it live again. Let Nebraska have it, it's their tradition.

Years ago, it was Nebraska-Oklahoma on Thanksgiving Day. Then it went to Black Friday at some point. Then it was just Nebraska and another opponent, not necessarily Oklahoma. Then Oklahoma-Oklahoma State got moved to that weekend.

Nebraska's Black Friday "tradition" isn't necessarily that "traditional". And what KF said about it made sense, i.e., with a Black Friday game, Hawk players can still go home for family time Thanksgiving weekend.

It's pretty clear that Nebraska is just a whiny little bitch. Amirite?

Absolutely....I have been to EVERY single Black Friday game since Iowa and Nebbie started playing - home and away. I am NOT a huge fan of it, mostly because I have to use a floating holiday for work. I always kind of wished it would go to Saturday. BUT now??? Now, just because I know how upset Nebraska fans were that they were going to possibly lose it? I want Iowa to steal it out from under their whiny little bitch ass's! Look Husker fans, Iowa stole your tradition... just another thing to keep em down

The answer is simple, syrup of ipecac. Barf on the bosses shoes, work day over. :D Just trying to help!

3 of last 4...not counting the 10 point 4th qtr we flipping blew in 2014. We should be 4 straight against those Big 10 monsters that were gonna sweep in and kick everyone's ass.

I firmly believe that the exposure we get in this game can't be overstated. And that's probably why kNU is chickening out. I also think they want to try and find a way to play OU again. You know, relieve the 70's and 80's instead of just the 90's.

^ absolutely.... to be honest, I think their AD pushed for 1. the game not to be on Friday and 2. For it not to be IOWA the last game of the year. They just aren't physical enough to hang with Iowa by November. And.... their AD got fired for it... among a lot of other things, but it was the straw that broke it.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Black Friday met with a bunch of kneeling come November. Either that or we'll hear the snowflakes demanding that the name Black Friday be changed to anything other than "Black".
