iowa vs Rutgers on BTN

I have to admit .. this will be bitter sweet for me no matter which way the game goes. CVS was the coach when I first started to follow the Lady Hawks. I respect her coaching abilities and understand her need to leave after the death of her husband. She's also stated her toughest games are against Iowa and that once a Hawk .. always a Hawk. Classy lady.

Having said that .. GO HAWKS!!!

Nice post,Blue.

It was great to see C Vivian Stinger back in Carver. Hawk fans gave her a standing ovation that lasted for quite awhile. The Lady Hawks really fought hard tonight. Alexa had 20 to lead the Hawks. They really need to cut down on those T O's. Again they had 21. Just way to many when your going up against a good team. Chase Coley was having a good night on the offensive side of the floor but was struggeling on the defensive side. Megan Gustafson replaced Chase and really made a big difference on the defensive side. I was really impressed with Megan and Hawk fans she a freshman. I know Chase just had a bad game and will rebound for the next game but things are looking good. Keep up the good work Lady Hawks!

The center duo's play has been key for this years success. They are now averaging a combined 18.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. That is huge. The best part is we get 2 more years with both of them.

Also the team defense has improved. Iowa is giving up 66.1 points per game and 37.5% fg. To last year's 72.6 ppg and 41.8% fg. They are doing a great job reloading!

ClintoIafan you nailed it. Those two are going to be super for the Lady Hawks. The defense is better than last year and that's going reap a lot of benefits. Alexa was on fire tonight from 3 point land. Was worried about losing Melissa Dixon last year but Alexa is stepping up huge. Just wait till we get next years class with this team. Things are trending fantastic for the Lady Hawks. Big game coming up sunday against Maryland and that will show what this team needs to improve on to make a run for the ncaa tournament. There's a lot to be smiling about with both men's and women's basketball! Go Hawks!

Coach Bluder said she expected Hannah Stewart (6'2" from Minot, N.D.) to step up and earn some time with Carly Mohn out with a knee injury. So another inside player to join Coley and Gustafson. More shooters on the way in next years class - Makenzie Meyer, Amanda Olinger, and Bre Cera, and Coach has a 2017 blue chip recruit Jinaya Houston. This team is going to be deep, and athletic.
