Iowa vs Indiana Highlights

Their were highlights? lol. (just kidding) Very nice work!! what video editing program do you use if you don't mind sharing. I'm looking for one. Here's a video I made. Pretty lame, but it was my first video. Very helpful information making shells and cheese.

If Amazing was a 13-year old girl, deanvogs would go to prison cuz he is f*ckin' Amazing!

;)

(Stole that quote from DJK. He used it to describe the Iowa Football Team)

Excellent as usual! I'd love to know what software you use as well. And how do you get the clips? Do you use a DVR?

Great work! What music is that from? It's a complete rip off of the Requiem for a Dream score. I hope Clint Mansell got paid by that "composer"...

I just use Apple's iMovie program to do the editing. I don't really edit any other video, and this does everything I need it to do. The new movie trailer style affect I did were just from the new iMovie '11 that i updated to. The program has it all set up, and I just drag and drop in video clips, simple and easy!

I DVR all the games (as I am at them, or at the bar for away games). I then have to get the HD video onto my Mac. Well I have DishNetwork, so I got a Hauppauge HD PVR box, and I run the component video out into that pass through Hauppauge box. It has a USB out, and I run that to my Mac. I then play the DVR game back and record it onto my computer as I do that. Then I have the video on the Mac and I can start picking highlight plays, and making a highlight video.

The big trick is getting the HD video onto the computer, as cable/Dish/DirectTV don't make it easy at all, and that is why I need that Hauppauge HD PVR box. The upside is now I have every game in HD for the Hawks for the last 2 years!

That is awesome. I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro, but I have Mediacom. How would I go about doing this for my setup? Also, what kind of space does this take up on the hard drive?

I'm not 100% positive for cable, but if you want HD, you need you digital cable box, so you would still need something like an EyeTV HD box. This also works for satellite, so if you ever switch you are still set! For you I really like this EyeTV HD box. It wasn't available two years ago when I was setting my stuff up. As then you get the box, and the software all that works awesome with your Macs. I use the EyeTV software, and it is good stuff!
Overview EyeTV HD

Hook the box up to your cable, then run to your computer. In your case you have your MacBook Pro that you can bring over to your TV, plug the USB into the MacBook and there you go!!

As far as space that it takes up, it is considerable. Before I remove the TV commercials it is about 17-18 GB, after I remove the commercials it is about 13-14 GB. The nice thing is you can export the video in different formats to take up less space. So after I remove the commercial I export the video at 1280 x 720 (720P). That is usually about 4-5 GB, which is a lot more manageable. You could export it in even less quality and take up less space, but what is the point of going through all of this for less than an HD picture on your computer!! I keep both personally, so I use about 17-18 GB per game of hard drive space.

Now what you do to store that video, and then back it up is up to you. I have a RAID server that I put mine onto that currently has 2 TB that is mirrored to another hard drive, and then I can expand up to 4 TB in the future if needed. All backed up in case of a hard drive failure (I have lost data in the past, and I won't lose it again!!).

Hope this helps!

Perfect. I have an HD/DVR Digital Cable box from Mediacom, but it has definitely crashed before. I lost all the 2009 games and also the Orange Bowl. I currently have all of the 2010 games on the DVR and need a way to back it up. Thanks for the advice!

GO HAWKS!!!
