Iowa vs Geo Wash resumes - really?

Some people on the site are saying so who should we be a higher seed than. I say looking at the Geo Wash record that twice playing fordha, the Bonnies, and Dayton is not like playing Minny twice , Illinois twice, at Indiana, at PSU.

And I dont see Geo Wash playing 2 against Mich, Mich St, OSU and Wisky (and three of those teams were ranked #1 at one time I think).

Yeah Iowa was 20-12 but a much tougher schedule, much tougher.

And GW had a couple big double digit losses.

I said this in another thread, but I think its very likely that the committee put Iowa/Tennessee/Xavier/NC State in the First Round games to increase tv ratings and interest. They will obviously never admit to it but it seems almost too obvious when you compare the First Round games this year to past years

I think the committee this year did a terrible job. When Andy Katz grilled the chairman on why Louisville was only a 4 seed he really had no answer. Every excuse he threw out there about Virginia getting a 1 and Louisville getting a 4 were completely debunked by Katz.

Also, supposedly the recent losses hurt Iowa big time, but it didn't hurt St Louis at all? Somehow St Louis lost 4 of 5 to end the season including terrible losses to St Bonnie and Duquesne and yet still got a 5? It doesn't make any sense at all and I can't believe there isn't a lot more outrage about it.

The RPI can be a complete joke a times but all Iowa had to do was beat the worst team in the B1G. Iowa left it up to the committee. You see scenarios like this all over the bracket.

It's an inexact science. There is some criteria that would show team A better than B and other criteria which would show the opposite. There's a human element involved which includes Iowa tanking down the stretch. It could have been worse so I don't have any problem with us being an 11.

I know the rpi crapshoot as I have been following this stuff for a long time but there is no comparison in the conference schedules of GW and Iowa, none

Lets not forget that Syracuse has lost 5 of their last 7, but lets give them a 3 and Louisville a 4 seed. IMO the biggest problem is that they try to explain their logic and it simply contradicts other decisions that they made regarding seeding.

Yes they did. There are many glaring issues with the seeds this year and more visible than in the past, not sure what the committee was doing quite honestly..

Dead on.

I agree with this and the other piece is that Dayton is an 11 seed but the committee didn't want to put them in a play in game because it would have been a true home game.

Iowa will get their chance to show how good the B1G is and what seed they deserve. Just win baby, just win.

My biggest complaint about the system (and not just because Iowa is in this position this year) is "Why is there a play-in game for the #11 and #12 seeds?" Shouldn't ALL play-in games be for #16 seeds? After all, shouldn't the bottom bubble teams have to play-in to earn the privilege of playing in the NCAA Tournament? If you are a #11 seed doesn't that mean you are one the 44th-48th (Five #11 seeds including the play-ins) best teams in the nation? If you are a #12 seed doesn't that mean you are one of the 49th-53rd best teams in the nation? That means there are 11 teams that are ranked lower than you that aren't in the play-in round.
