Don't mean to call out individual players but Mabin continuing to start? Guess we know where Lizard will be lining up.
If Mabin gets coverage on Lizard, his saving grace may be that the ISU QB does not appear to have the arm strength and accuracy of Billy Bahl.If mabin gets lazard they may really pick on him. On the other hand mabin has got to be better than any of northern iowas dbs
The few highlights I've seen show he has some arm strenght, accuracy not so muchIf Mabin gets coverage on Lizard, his saving grace may be that the ISU QB does not appear to have the arm strength and accuracy of Billy Bahl.

On the back shoulder throws and the first TD, Mabin was in man coverage, so I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion? Mabin is actually better in zone coverage when he has things in front of him and can drive on the ball. He is slow getting his head around in man coverage, where in lies the problem. He has a chance to play in the NFL on a team that plays a lot of cover 3 (like the Seahawks) as he is big corner and a strong tackler. Iowa played very little of their typical zone coverages against Miami, so I'm thinking they have tweaked them and didn't want ISU to get film of it. I think we will see a lot more zone coverage against ISU. Example of what I'm talking about in zone, watch the 3 and 3 play that ended Miami's first drive. Mabin drives on the ball and breaks it up......Mabin llooked better in man coverage than he did in zone. Part of that is probably on the safety and even the linebackers on his side.
But the truth of the matter is that unless he starts playing as well as King, he is going g to see the majority of the targets vome his way.
Mabin has always shown flashes of brilliance and flashes of less than brilliance. I would say the major knock on him is inconsistency.
Iowa's secondary is one of the best in the nation. They are both experienced and talented. Not only are they good against the pass, but they are also skilled in run support. In addition to that the Iowa defensive line is much better than the clown offensive line. The clown qb will be getting pressure all day, and will not have time to throw. Iowa will have no problem limiting the clown passing game.

Exactly. We're all freaking out about the defense, when in reality we played a vanilla game. No blitzes/raider/exotic coverages, and missing the leader of the defense and a starting DE for almost the entire game. We gave up 22 first downs to North Texas last year, but that wasn't a sign of things to come.Relax only one game in, he will be fine.
I'm starting to think CintonIA = CyTwins on CF. Nothing but great things to say about Iowa to the point that it's unrealistic. I'm all for being positive, but some of the praise is way over the top.I'm going to disagree with that. Too many question marks right now
