Iowa to Scrimmage #15 Creighton this Sunday

Not sure if this has been posted, but according to Marc Moorhouse Iowa will have a scrimmage vs. Creighton this Sunday.

That scrimmage may be the best competition Iowa will see until December. If not, it will be close. Fran's letting them have it off the bat.
 


The game last year was one of the biggest butt-kickings I've seen in a while. It will be very telling to see where we've come in a year. We won't know, but the coaches and players will. I wish we had Gatens for one more year. He should have gotten the Settles 9 years to play 5...
 


I hope we will hear a few comments from players or coaches after the scrimmage.

Where does the scrimmage take place. I have a feeling this game will be a lot different than last season......

Remember what happened last time we played Creighton, in a real game. I don't want to.
 




Iowa was a different team at the end of the year than it was when it played Creighton. If memory serves me well didn't our lack of size get exposed in that game? If so that aspect should be significantly different this year.

That game was absolutely embarrassing. We made Dougie Fresh look like Dirkalicious.
 


I believe it was at the end of the Creighton game when Fran informed Basabe that he knew of a bunch of mid major schools on the east coast if he needed a recommendation.

That game was brutal.
 


Well it will be interesting to hear comments from the players on appeared improvements over the last meeting........hopefully.

Lack of size, lack of effort, lack of intelligence, lack of emotion.

There were some stinkers to start off last season.

Yes lack of size to handle McDermott and not having Bryce at the point due to injury. Now we have 2 capable PGs, albeit freshmen, they still are better than having Marble at the point.

We still don't have anyone in McD's universe. I'm sure he'll have a field day on our interior defense again.
 


Well one good thing about it is that it will be a great learning opportunity for our young players without getting saddled with a possible loss on the books. It will give the players a good idea on what areas they will need to improve on. I still feel we will find the going much easier now that we have legit size under the basket. That absolutely hurt us in several games last year. It was one of the main reasons why our opponents found so many wide open outside shots. We were having to sag in and back on defense to try to prevent interior feeds to the post position.
