Obviously you can't draw scientific conclusions, but a few things I think are worth noting
3FG%
2013: 7-26 (26.9)
2014: 18-41 (43.9%)
No Oglesby last year at this time as he was injured, but he's just 2-8 this year to start. Uthoff was 1-2 last year at this time, 6-10 now.
Assists
2013: 31 assists on 52 made baskets
2014: 40 assists on 59 made baskets
The ball movement this year has been clearly better than we saw most of last year, through just two games
FG%
2013: 52-123 (42.3%)
2014: 59-117 (50.4%)
Fewer shots this year with more made baskets. Again, the offensive flow looks better and as Fran commented after the NDSU game, the transition game is pretty good right out of the chute this year.
Woody & Gabe Combined
2013: 17 points & 16 boards in two games
2014: 43 points and 33 boards in two games
Yeah, I'd say that is getting it done and thus far this year, Iowa is feeding the post or at least looking to feed the post far more than they have in recent years...then again, they have the hosses to feed it to now...and two players who are far more confident in themselves and who have developed.
Aaron White:
2013: 4 assists
2014: 11 assists
Could be a fluke of the games, but White is going to draw a big time crowd this year, so his ability to find the open man is not something I'd shrug off as a statistical anomaly, or rather, unimportant.
