Iowa recruiting 3-star pulled offer Colorado RB

Just saw this today. Now that we need running backs this is another prospect.

Colorado pulled offer from 3-star RB Kenneth Farrow. Now Hawks are after him.

"A 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back, Kenneth Farrow of Bell (Hurst, Texas) has seen his Class of 2011 offer withdrawn by new Colorado head coach Jon Embree.

The three-star prospect is now being recruited by Iowa, Houston and Western Kentucky.

"I don't think it's fair to pull a kid's scholarship, especially after they've committed to you, especially with it being this late" Farrow told the Daily Camera."

Had he committed? If not, I don't see the problem with pulling an offer at all.

What kind of back is he?

So we go from having several 4 star backs highly interested in Iowa (one of whose offer we pulled) to having to chase a guy with offers from Houston and Western Kentucky? Fantastic.
On the plus side, at least we'll probably get him.

He committed to Colorado in October.

Downhill runner with quick burst. Between the tackles runner.

Oh if he committed and than it got pulled, that is BS and not a good way to start for Colorado's coach. Have fun recruited in TX going forward

Iowa's best RB this year was Adam Robinson. Who else offered him but Iowa?

And Jewel Hampton, barring injuries, was a really good back but the only other school to offer him was Ball State

Yeah, Stanzi, McNutt, Sash, etc. were all 3 star players out of HS, lets not recruit any of them!

Greenwood, Neilsen, Johnson, Tarpinian, Vandervelde, Ferentz, Reiff, Reisner, etc the list goes on and on.

And still no outright Big Ten title, rose bowl, or National championship game. If anyone didnt notice, It just got a tad bit harder to win a conference championship, no more chances to share. I love KF and I am in now way saying lets let him go or asking for a replacement for any member of the staff, but As long as KF is the coach, I just dont see us winning the conference.

OK if not KF then what coach could do it at Iowa?

We can say this all we want about players, but I think everyone would have loved to have Ingram on our team and other 4 star players, just like we'd love to have Gordon and Coe this year. I still have high hopes for Coe, just not as high. We can talk about all the 3 star guys and diamonds in the rough, but you still have to love getting a 4 or 5 star recruit.

Wonder why they pulled it. Players de-commit for less, but a new coach can't pull a kid's offer? Both not cool, but the new coach maybe has better prospects in mind.

A kid can burn a bridge like that and get away with it if they go to another school. Pulling a kid's scholarship sticks with a coach. It didn't work well for recruiting in Illinois for Lickliter when he pulled Freeman's.

Sure farmer, I hear you. I'd love to see 4/5 star recruits all the time too, but there's no guarantee (see Dan Doering, Ryan Bain, Kyle Williams).

Again not going to argue that either, but there have been a lot more 3* and lower players that have never seen the field than the 4 and 5 star guys. Problem is we don't get alot of them so we know when they don't make it more than when others don't. I'm not complaining about a 3* recruit with interest at all, but I'd love to see Coe and Kouandjio and all the big guys at the top of our list come to Iowa. I would be pretty pumped then.

Also, our RB recruiting of late is littered with the likes (better or worse)-
Jevon Pugh
Shonn Greene
Jewell Hampton
Adam Robinson
Numerous others that had few offers. The Hawks also recruited the likes of Donald Brown and DeAngelo Williams who ended up at power houses like UCONN and Memphis respectively. I trust who we recruit at RB, it's keeping them healthy and in school where we have problems.

I know where you're coming from, but to pick nits I don't think Lick pulled Freeman's scholly. He didn't make the senior-to-be a captain essentially forcing him out the door. Maybe it hurt recruiting in Illinois, but one could argue losing played a large part in that.
