I wouldn't pay players. But what would be really neat is if we were only paying our head coach, say $2 million. That way, we could spend a whole bunch more cash on recruiting. You know, flying coaches most anywhere, and often, to show Iowa means business.

Even with the money they're paying Kirk, Iowa still has plenty left in the bank for that stuff. Plus, I think Kirk already has access to a private jet.

I wonder if all the KF supporters will tell everyone how this goes to prove what a great job KF has done? Proof Iowa is a job that a monkey could win 8 games a year with an easy non conference schedule.

I don't really know how recruiting budgets work. Is there a limit on what a school can spend? I think there is a limit on contact . My guess (it's a guess) is that one couldn't spend the extra two million on recruiting.
That said, as Iowa is historically a mediocre program and likely always will be, I'd be fine with de-emphasizing football and the money spent on it.
