Iowa pursuing transfer WR

Jayden Reed was a 2nd Team All MAC WR last year as a freshman at Western Michigan. Had 797 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Sounds like he visited Iowa yesterday and could come down to Iowa and MSU but still early. He’s from Illinois originally.

I love what the coaching staff is doing with picking up a few transfers. Not sure if we will get this kid but given the amount of attrition in college sports today transfers can really help prepare for that (paging Fran McCaffery).

I also like to see what they are doing with the WR position. They’ve put a bunch of offers out recently to WRs. If we get that position going consistently with the way the TE and QB rooms look for the future we could have some really nice offensive teams.

Saw on Twitter it's down to us and MSU.

Any chance he could get a hardship waiver? Seems they're handing them out like candy these days.

I included that tweet but looking at the source not sure how accurate it really is. Heard elsewhere that Frosty might be getting involved.

Would love to have him on the field next year obviously but I don’t think the hardship is likely. Still would take him in a heartbeat.

Is Keyshawn Johnson's kid still available? The twitter battle between 'gimme the damn ball' Keyshawn and the Ferentzs' would be message board gold!

Kids actually want to play football at Iowa. Basketball doesn't have that same, shall we say, panache.

In HS I'm sure he was watching WMU when PJ fleck was there and that great all-american WR

I really hope we can land this kid. We can use all the help at WR that we can get, plus he actually appears to be pretty darn good.

Isn't there a pretty convenient train ride between there and IC?

Actually no. You gotta take the bus (or drive) from Naperville to Iowa City

There is however a convenient train ride between Naperville and Burlington, Iowa, which I know does not help at all.

How quickly can he pick up Iowa's complex offense and learn how to block? Just kidding.:)

Do transfers have to sit out the entire season, or do the new redshirt rules apply, as in able to appear in four games during the redshirt season?

I think when you transfer, you're out of competition for a year. I don't remember that rule being changed.
