There is a website that has dozens of ticket stubs like this, you can have them in various sizes. This one is about 12 x 8 inches

I don't know if this team's record is rolled into the Hawkeye's history or not.
Nope. 2 separate teams. I read a very cool book in college about the WW2 preflight schools and now I can’t remember the name of it.

Hawkeyes still had their own football team playing throughout the war. Completely separate organizations… different players, coaches, and schedules.

Iowa was still in the Western Conference and PF was independent. Preflight schools around the country were made up of service members (coaches and players) with the teams designed to “toughen up” airmen while they got their three months of flight training and before they shipped out overseas.

The only commonality the teams shared was the physical location. Still a very cool chapter in history, but the Pre Flight schools had no connection at all to the schools they were stationed at.

I love these old stories. Those of us who went to Morningside know that The Maroons hosted Notre Dame for two games over a century ago. According to legend, the second game was played in a snow storm and the Notre Dame players would steal the gloves of the Morningside players on the bottom of the pile.

George Allen is smiling.
