Now if Vandenburg just plays average and doesn't do anything to lose games the rest will take care of its self. However, I will crawl through my computer and B-slap anyone who talks about going undefeated. Don't even say it.

I would have Rogers in there in pencil...he will not practice this spring as they are still looking into his cardio situation that kept him out of the bowl game.

One thing that I see as a negative in this is that White is staying at RB, I think that is not great as I believe he has more potential at the safety position. It is a great team move but I hope Johnson and the arrivals at the position this fall will allow him to compete for the one of the safety spots.

One thing about the WR position that could be potentially a positive (someone else may have already pointed this out, haven't had a chance to read the boards consistently) is that JVB should have some decent chemistry with some of the younger WRs as he likely worked with them often last fall and in the Bowl prep with the 2nd unit. This will be one of Iowa's tallest collection of receivers and if JVB can throw a decent jump ball they will have a height advantage on nearly every corner this season. As DJK's pro day workout showed you don't have to be a blazer to get open, as both he and Hinkel consistently were able to get open on the money down in their careers. It is nice that Iowa has McNutt back but Keenan Davis is probably more athletically gifted and if teams roll coverage towards McNutt the things I have seen out of Vandenberg make it likely that he will throw to the open read or be able to throw to space to let receivers make plays. I expect less numbers from JVB but not less production. One of the key stats for Iowa is yards per completion which is generally very high regarding college throwers in general.

Still don't like the idea of your #1 and #2 WRs as kick returners. Let's get Canzeri out there early in the year against a team we can afford a drop against (assuming that's KFz's fear)...instead of waiting til late October and throwing him in under pressure.

We play "defense" in the entire return game. I'd like to see us switch to "offense" once we've caught the ball.

I like that lineup a lot! Please turn out to be a star Vandenberg, please! A lot riding on his shoulders this year, just need him to play smart.

DeAndre Johnson is still here and at RB, isn't he? I'm curious as to why he wouldn't be in the #2 RB spot in front of Jason White...

And I didn't realize Weinke was a senior? I thought he and Vandy were in the same class? **Edit - ICHawk24 beat me to that one...

I think we'll see a lot of CJ Fed. He has to pose serious mismatch problems in the middle of the field. Just don't see too many MLB's that will be able to cover him 1on1. He will become one of our 3rd and short specialists. JMO

I think White being listed at RB over Johnson doesnt mean much now. Iowa needs bodies at the position for Spring practice and he has played there in games so ahead of Johnson. Pretty sure Coker wont play much in contact scrimmages so White and Johnson will both get their chances as will some other walkons, I am sure.

As for returning kicks, that is on paper, and I am sure others will get their chance this Spring.

Let me get this out of the way now, even though this question will probably come up again (and again, and again)...

Is Iowa doing an open scrimmage this year, and if so, when will it be?

Spring two deeps are nothing more than message board fodder.

A lot can change and will change between now and the end of fall camp.
