Yeah, I would hope that he wouldn't pick ANY assistant. I know there is talk of a few, including Steve Forbes, but I don't know about the assistant to head coach thing.
Then again, if you can get a known great recruiter and sign him for a very, very, very low base salary(with millions in insentives), with minimal guarantees, then it might be worth a shot for a couple years.
Barta does need to concentrate on getting a TOP assistant coach. To be just that - A top ASSISTANT coach, to our next head coach.
That was Alford's problem, he wasn't the best recruiter and was a horrible X's & O's guy. Had he not hired his dad and hired Craig Neal earlier, he might still be here. Kinda glad it didn't work out to be honest.
If you were trying to refer to Todd Lickliter, well Todd most certainly looked like a good hire. He took basically two entirely different teams to the Sweet Sixteen. That's a very good resume, no matter where you coach nor the conference you come from.
