Iowa loses close games? DUH

Homer, this is one of the most ignorant threads I've ever seen. You seem to think that because a team is passing late and happens to score, that you can blame the pass D. You seem to forget about other 55-59 minutes of the game. In all the games you listed earlier, I can give you multiple reasons as to why those games were close, and they weren't all pass D

Great, Iowa's pass defense stopped Michigan yesterday. Off the top of my head, I can list at least 6 recent instances where Iowa's pass defense didn't shine at the end of games.

(1) Arizona 2010.
(2) Any Northwestern loss in recent memory.
(3) Minnesota 2011. Completed a 40+? yard pass on one of its final drives.
(4) Iowa State 2011.
(5) Michigan State 2009 (Iowa came back to win that game on a 'walkoff' touchdown).
(6) Michigan 2010 - almost tied Iowa in the 4th with long TD pass completions.

Almost? Who cares, it was a win. Don't even bring the ISU game into this. If Hyde had been at CB instead of Castillo, he's not getting burned and that game doesn't go to OT.

There are probably plenty of games recently where the defense held up. How many times has the offense hung them out to dry on 3 and outs? Last year they might not have given up some of those drives if they hadn't been on the field so long.

Cris Collinsworth, one of the NBC announcers of last night's game between Pittsburgh and Baltimore thought that Pittsburgh's lack of pass D on that last drive was the reason for Pittsburgh's loss.

Besides, if Iowa's pass D stops the drive at the end of games, there's no need to worry about clock management and the 2 minute drill ( something we all know Ferentz shies away from).

EDIT:And, if you want to include all Iowa loses and look at all parts of those games, my theory doesn't apply 'cause not all are close loses and not all loses are at the end of games.
