Iowa Lady Hawks

Since the men do not have anything to play for, I thought I might start a thread on the ladies. What do you guys think are chances of a ncaa tournament? certain situations? what a job bluder is doing with all the young talent and injuries

Printy can make it rain, and the two new walk-on's are not to shabby in the uni's either. I cannot believe I just commented on women's basketball.

They have a decent chance of winning their last 4 games, then BT tourny. Would have won 10 of last 11. At least 1 win in tourny may get a NCAA bid.

I go have gone to all of their BT home games since the Orange Bowl. Have or will go to 2 of the men's games. Of course the women's game is different. They have players that can drive to the basket, kick back out for 3's. Alexander, Wahlin and Printy are a lot more fun to watch than any of the men.

They are really coming on strong. We are much better than during the first half of the season. I hope that counts when pick time comes.

Yea printy went to my highschool, and I have spent time in okoboji with jorndan and jamie, they are two really nice and talented basketball players

Getting Stokes would be a HUGE get, but it is going to be tough considering all of the top programs that are after her services. Bluder has a nice class coming in the next two years, with some local talent. Jade Rodgers (Kennedy) in the fall and then Virginia Johnson (Iowa City-City High) in the fall of 2011........maybe Kia will join that class?

Agreed about getting Stokes would be huge considering who else has come to see her and where she has visited. At least it seems like the Hawks have a chance. They interviewed the LM girls coach Mike Brandt about Jaimie Printy at yesterday's game. He was also asked if he had any pull with Stokes and he said no. I know she has been to some Hawk games this year, so you never know.

It is also good to see that the good local talent is going to Iowa.

Yes, they do have a shot- some of this i posted in a thread last week....now updated with current results.

Iowa is now at 14-11 (7-7) with an RPI of 66 (not updated from Illini win) and have won 7 of the last 8. The remaining 4 conf. games play out like this:

MN 12-12 (lost 72-69 in 1st meeting)
@ NW 14-10 (won 78-69 in 1st meeting)
Ind 13-11 (won 71-67 in 1st meeting)
@ Wisc 17-7 (won 61-51 in 1st meeting)

Quality wins over Wisconsin, Illinois St, and MSU.

The current Big 10 standings, conf record only:
OSU 13-2
PUR 9-6
WIS 8-6
MSU 8-6
IOWA 7-7
PSU 7-8
MICH 6-8
IND 6-8

The lady Hawks have a very good shot of running the table, the finale @ Wisc will be HUGE!

I was at the game yesterday...pretty good crowd, better than some of the men's games this year. Very up and down game as the first half was lights out shooting by the hawks followed by a terrible stretch in the second half that let Illinois back in. Because of all the injuries this team doesn't have a lot of fire power off the bench but w/ Alexander, Printy and Wahlin as your starting backcourt they can win any of their remaining games.

I think if they win their remaining four games they will still have to win two games in the BTT. I predict they get the fourth seed and win the first round than pull the upset of OSU in the Semis.

Kind of fun to hear the crowd get into it when the Hawks were on defense. Reminded me of football.

I think if they run the table and get two wins in the big ten tourney they have a decent shot to get in something between a 9-12 seed. And if that does happen, I would not want to play a team rolling like they have been in march

If they run the table they will more than likely be the #3 seed and possibly #2 seed in the BTT so winning 2 games in the BTT puts them in the finals and I think that would be more than a decent shot to get into the NCAA as a 9 to 12 seed as they would be 20-12 overall with a loss in the BTT final.

If this scenario plays out I think they should be in. The committee needs to take into account that Alexander sat out a month during the stretch when they were struggling the most. A healthy Alexander is easily one of the three best players in the league. I would rather have a 10 seed than an 8 or 9 seed because of a much greater chance to make the sweet 16.

I agree, but the last one at wisky is not a easy task. That game is HUGE! if they could sweep the next four games and get one win in the btt they have a shot at a 12 seed, win 2 maybe a 10 seed or even 9 seed
