Iowa is now #2 in Pomeroy

#2 in Pomeroy, #4 in Massey, #8 in Sagarin, and Illinois just got obliterated. Let the good times roll...

The rub is that the Rutgers game will hurt Iowa's objective rankings, even if it's a 50-point game. How awesome would a Rose Bowl and having Iowa play in DSM for the first two rounds of the NCAA in a three month span be? Lot of season left, but what a great time to be a Hawkeye!

Beating Purdue And maryland will help them again. In fact i bet losing those games would still help us more than beating rutgers

Bracket matrix has us at a 2 seed. If we win both games this week, with xavier, kanas and Oklahoma losses i wouldn't be shocked to see us projected as a 1 seed

That would be akin to the football team being projected into the college football playoff, which they were at one point. If you could have found odds in August of 2015 as to the likelihood that Iowa's football and basketball teams would even be projected at some point in their respective seasons to be in the top 4, I would imagine those odds to be astronomical.

If Villanova loses at a decent Seton Hall tonight we'll probably be number 1. It doesn't matter at all but to say that we're the best team in the country according to a solid metric would be cool as ****.

If Iowa wins by 50, it won't hurt them in Pomeroy. It would mean Iowa's offensive and defensive efficiency was off the charts good, even accounting for opposition (which Pomeroy does). If Iowa wins by 8 or 12, then likely yes Iowa would drop even with a win.

Those would have been very long odds indeed. I bet on 3 football teams and 3 basketball teams to win their respective National Championships when I was in Vegas...made the bets October 15. I got Iowa at 50-1 in football and 150-1 in basketball.

So is there a 1 seed that plays in Des Moines or just a 2 seed?

There isn't a set seed, more so there are 8 teams that play in Des Moines. So its possible that 2-seed Kansas and 2-seed Iowa would both play in Des Moines, just in different brackets. Same way as its possible a 1-seed Kansas and 2-seed iowa would both play in Des Moines, just in different brackets. Bottom line is they try to keep the 1's and 2's as close to home as possible. The rest they will attempt to do so if it works out, but its not a high priority.

Or something like that

As DodgerHawki has mentioned, Rutgers won't hurt in Pomroy as long as its a blowout. Close game, that hurts.

If Iowa wins tonight and beats Purdue on Sunday, they'll be on the 1 line in projections. I'd also imagine they'd be sniffing Top 5 in AP.

You can't tell us that and then not tell us how much you laid down.

Come on man, we want to know.

Not much. I make Futures bets for fun...pick 3 teams (NCAA Basketball, NFL and NCAA Football) with decent odds that I think have a chance. I have Iowa, Villanova and Arizona.
