Iowa is a 14 point dog against Penn St

I was leaning toward 9 or 10. One of those games where you wish it was played in early November, instead of late September. Iowa will win the West, it is a matter of who is the most vulnerable in the East: PSU, Michigan or OSU?

After watching them play IL if not for all of ILs TOs PSU doesn't put up 30 pts. PSUs O wasn't all that dynamic against them. If Iowa wins it'll be 17-13. If PSU wins it'll be 27-20. Iowa just has to win the TO margin.

I agree, but don’t think they’ll cover it until late in the 4th after our D is absolutely gassed.

This will be the best team we have played thus far . We will know after this game where our offensive line stands for sure.I hope Cade survives this game without injuries. Lose Cade and our chances of winning the West fall off the table.

Move the ball in increments and eat up the clock and keep the Penn State offense off the field. Hope for a few turnovers to go our way.

This is a weird year. At this point the Iowa defense seems a little weaker than last year, but the Iowa offense seems a little bit better. We will find out about both this week.

Football is a strange game sometimes. Some coaches let their pride get in the way. They year we beat Ohio State was a head a scratcher. Going into that game we were ineffective offensively when teams put pressure on our QB. However Urban thought he could win that game by playing a straight up defense. That was a huge mistake on his part. It was probably the best overall game Brian has called since being the offensive coordinator. I just shake my head that Urban didn’t put more pressure on our QB. His pride and arrogance cost Ohio State that game. His smugness and arrogance of thinking his defense would just play a straight up defense and beat Iowa was laughable. It was enjoyable to beat them so handily. I had hoped that was Brian’s coming out moment, but alas it was what appeared to be a fluke game.

I don’t know how much Brian was involved with the recruiting before being made the offensive coordinator and if some of his better offenses early on were products of his predecessor’s recruiting and coaching or not.

I still have to wonder if Barta retired to avoid the possible risk of having to be the one that fires Brian, and this damaging what friendship he has with Kirk.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet the farm on Iowa to cover. There's no way Iowa loses by 2 TDs. I haven't seen anything that really impresses me about Penn State yet. Illinois gave them 4 turnovers and great field position on all but one scoring drive. They still only managed 30 points and were held to 4 3 & outs.

Sure there's a way Iowa loses by 2 TDs. I thought we could keep it close against Ohio and Michigan last year and the offense shit the bed so hard that there was no way our defense was gonna keep us in those games. This could easily be the same situation.

The Illinois-PSU game is ancient history. These teams make quantum leaps week over week early in the season. We could show up an execute on offense and put up 35 and win huge, but it is far more likely that PSU corrects some of their issues and hangs 28+ on us than it is that Iowa has an offensive outburst. Unless we get an offense that can sustain drives we are going to give up a lot of points to teams with solid offenses.

And Iowa is not the only team whose D and Specials can score points.

If you made me bet I would take Iowa and the points, but this is not a game I would bet.

Do you remember when the Brain earned us a hard fought 66 yards at Wisconsin the next week? What a game that was.
That's the one that sticks out to me, too, especially when you recall the roster. Stanley, Wadley, James Butler, Vandeberg, Easley, Hockenson, Fant. Average Big Ten starters up to All-Americans.

66 yards. Think about it. I'm not sure the offense can be fixed when those schemes/style/play-calling can only muster 66 yards with those players.

Freshmen starting at both OT, though they are both currently in the NFL starting (Wirfs and Jackson). Also an NFL starter at C (Daniels), and OGs who either had a cup of coffee (Render) or could have been an NFL player had he so chosen (Welsh).

We had a lot of talent, OL and skill positions, for BFs first 4 years as OC.

60 to 70 percent chance of rain, like Iowa's chances if this happens. Bet early before odds change.

And now we have his recruits.
