Iowa Football: Spring football game continues to be knee-jerk reaction - Examiner.com

Re: Iowa Football: Spring football game continues to be knee-jerk reaction - Examiner

Interesting, and I think true, even as it regards the media and other experts. No one really knows anything until October.

What is this publication? Iowa based? I can't tell.

The "publication" is just bleacher report for teh newz. It allows any jerk to post their blog under their handle, and they sells teh ads and give teh writer 1 cent per page view. This guy has no more access or insight than teh average jerk on HN.

That said, I agree with him. I can't believe how worked up people get, trying to make predictions based on an open practice.

Decent read, I think it's funny he calls out the media for predicting games this early but will fall in line with the standard thinking that our "back seven" is our strength. If this seasons defensive success is predicated on a strong "back seven" it'll be the first time I've ever seen it happen.

The DL and OL have a lot of time to develop yet this summer and we will need to see significant growth on both sides for it not to be a rough year. With the changes in staff and the excitement generated I think that will be an encouragement to players and hopefully that translates into hard work this off season.

Can't agree enough with the main point...predicting schedule outcome this early is ludicrous.

Predicting anything this early is ludicrous, I'm looking at you "WILL CJF go to teh NFL next year?" guy.

Who is "WILL CJF go to teh NFL next year?" guy? Not picking up the reference...

The primary goal for spring practice is to keep your best players from getting injured. Unfortunately, we failed in that goal, since Canzeri went down.

Ouch

I remember a few years ago a prominent coach was trying to end spring practice. I can't remember the coach, but he had a good idea.

Looking back now...the back 7 didn't distinguish its self anymore than the DLine did.

oh

Good point. Remember 2005? Greenway, Hodge, Miles, Two 4 year starting CB's and Two NFL safeties.

Should be great, right?

Well yeah, until you throw in an entirely new DL, with the center of it manned by two undersized converted LBs with no prior reps.

How worthless does someone's life have to be that they would look up a thread from almost a year ago and bump it to the top of the page?
