Iowa Football Preview, Prediction: Miami Comes to Kinnick

Obviously, expectations of a win are probably in the 99th percentile.

I really want to see both 1st team units dominate the LOS and run the score up enough that KF comes out of halftime with starters for one series, just to see how sharp they can be and then the rest of the game belongs to the second team.

I really want to see who we have in those spots and how well they perform in real competition. I bet the coaches want to see that with the QB’s, Petras and Mansell, alternating series, too.

This can’t be overstated enough. Not stepping on necks when you have the chance is so goddamn infuriating it’s hard to put in words. It goes back to the old cliche, if you don’t like it, stop it.

Throw that f’n ball when you’re up by 35 in the 4th quarter, dammit. Get Kinnick roaring and let the players have their dessert they’ve worked so hard for. Don’t worry about the blue hairs bitching about it, the @HuckFinn ‘s of the world are part of a bygone era and we don’t need to play nice guy “kick it” ball. Let those people fax letters to Barta if they think it’s disrespectful.

Not only does a big margin of victory make your players more confident, there are times when big comebacks happen for one reason or another and you need those points.

Illinois last year got me stoked up, but then I realized it’s illinois, and it’s almost impossible not to score touchdowns every drive.

hate to put a wet blanket on things. how many times were Iowa fans delighted in Week 1 performances? How many times did Iowa fans come away meh after week 1. Ya its a win but 24 points in 60 minutes, 10 scored in 3 quarters. damn... 4 scores in 16 possessions

And opening up the playbook for the second team. Not simply marching them out there to simply get a few reps while running down the clock. Snaps are important, but meaningful snaps in which they are actually trying to move the ball and produce are what I want to see. I don't simply want to see the center, #2 QB, and any of the back of RB's work on snap counts and exchanges.

All I know is that no fucking way would I want my first college pass ever to be thrown at night in Kinnick.

Jesus Maude that has to be a horrible feeling getting off that bus knowing that in about 4 hours you're going to take your first snap ever after high school, on national TV, under lights, with Kinnick's sidelines and Epenesa/Gholston both playing let's see who can get the first sack of the season.

I don't know who their LT is, but their quarterback better fucking hope that LT has a night like this somehow...

About 95% according to historical 21.5 point spreads (favored team 114-6):
