Ok Rob, I'll bite, apparently we have a game this week huh? Everyone seems to be occupied with other stuff.

Yes. It’s even a conference game.
You're kidding.
I agree with your write up. I would guess different on the score is about it.
I can see us getting into the 30's, maybe 33-35 and them hitting 17-20.
The lines on the local are Iowa -20.5 and o/u of 50.5. I think they pretty much nailed it.
I think turnovers are what could really tip that scale either direction.

I sure hope this Iowa squad can score more than 3 TDs against Rutgers. I was starting to believe that this Iowa team, with its uncommon depth at WR, might be in the top 3rd of KFs Teams.

UMass scored 3 TD's and they're one of the worst teams in the FBS. I think we put up over 40 on Rutgers.

We are not going to go away from our ground game.
It's still unproven and there is still room for working on it before we meet Michigan and Wisconsin.

I'll never forget last year watching PSU play at Indiana the week before Iowa went to Happy Valley. I was so underwhelmed watching PSU. I was very confident that Iowa would go there and win without too much drama. Well PSU showed up as a different team the next week.

I watched RU's highlights and both their OLine and DLiines looked weak. I think Iowa will lay waste to them.

There I said it, hope that I'm right.

People seem to forget when Iowa last played Rutgers in 2016 the final score was 14-7 and the Scarlet Knights gave the Hawks everything they could handle, even after Rutgers' best player got injured during the game. This Rutgers offense looks to be better than that team; I don't think anybody has any idea how good their defense is. Given that Rutgers is 6-0 ATS its last 6 BTen games and Iowa is 1-5 ATS its last 6, if I was a betting man, I know where I'd put MY money!

Many will remember that the 1979 season opener, and Hayden Fry's first game as Iowa head coach, was a conference game. Against a Lee Corso coached Indiana team no less. It actually turned out to be two games in one. Unfortunately Indiana got the better of their half.

We opened against Indiana in 1980, as well. The next couple decades, with a few exceptions, we played our non-conference games at the beginning of the season.

I was at that game....still a young man in my early 20s.

Dennis Mosley went crazy, and Iowa owned the first half.
Trouble was, Indy owned the 2nd half and Iowa lost late, 30-26.
Indy ended the season 8-4, including a bowl win vs #9 BYU.

Not saying this is you personally, but anybody who bets against their team to cover should be drug out in the street and shot because they’re the most miserable fucking people to watch a game with. There are plenty of other good games to bet on.

No fan should root for their team to get to 19 pts and quit, or give up points in a blowout. We don’t need to hear ad nauseum how much they bet and how they need “opponent x” to score on their team, and I actually hope these people lose their kids’ lunch money when they do it.

I watch 99% of Hawkeye games with my lifelong best friend at his place, and his Eddie Haskell neighbor does that shit all the time because “the Hawks never cover.” I keep the faith that one of these days he’ll fall down the basement stairs or choke on a little smoky but alas, it never happens.

Oh crap, I did forget about that game from 3 years ago. That changes everything.....

On the flip side, I won't ever bet against the Hawks either. I think it's bad ju ju.
If I don't like it I just don't bet on them.
Like you said, there are lots of other games.
Edit.
Sorry that is what you were saying. I'm tired and haven't had any coffee.

I admit to being somewhat influenced by the atrocity we witnessed between these two teams in '16 when it came to picking my final score.

I see Iowa being content to pound the ball, control clock and get out with a B1G win.

Did anyone catch that their LT is a freshman? AJE has to be licking his chops! They better give that guy some help, or Sitkowski might be the QB for the rest of their year.

I would think so. I would bet they want to improve on week one. You know we are going to be balanced. Probably just see if we can build off the good and improve the stuff that needs work.
I don't expect "exciting" because we shouldn't need to be. Execution is the name of the game at this point in the season.
A bunch of teams were off to a slow, rather ugly start. Hopefully we can stay sharper than them each and every week.
