Iowa Football Preview, Prediction: Hawkeyes Could End Nebraska Season

The last sentence prior to the score prediction sums it up perfectly for me:

"I think the Hawkeyes pull this one out, but I’m not overly confident about it."

I think Nebraska is going to have to play very poorly, which they very well could, or Iowa is going to have to have their best offensive game of the season to win the game.

Iowa's run D has been inconsistent and Nebraska could chew them up. After watching Iowa struggle against Purdue and Illinois hapless defenses, I don't have a lot of confidence that the offense will pick up the slack.

I have one question - - -

How many points would Nebraska need to score to make it a wall too high or a bridge too far for Iowa's offense to surmount. That number is 24 points.

sorry for mixing my metaphors.

The Hawkeye defense has shut down or limited even the good teams we have played. Nebraska will be forced into being one dimensional and we will sack sack sack our way to victory. Their qb might scramble for some first downs and we might give up one big pass play, but I see 17 max for Neb and we will dial it up on offense and go for 27.

Feel like it'll come down to Iowa forcing Nebraska's offense into turnovers (which can easily do), and Iowa actually running the ball (which they've done really well against Nebraska)

If either of those two points above are lacking, it'll be like every other Iowa game.....16-10

I think Iowa's defense is too much for Nebraska for four Qs, and I think Nebraska's defense is too soft making Iowa look competent on offense

20-13 Iowa

One thing Nebraska has going for them is that they are playing at home. They have home field advantage. Maybe this year that is enough to get them a win and a trip to bowl game that no one watches.

Iowa has defense, Nebraska has offense. Nebraska's offense isn't near what Minnesota's was. Iowa's offense gets to play against a mediocre Nebraska defense. Moving Tyler Goodson into the mix makes teams respect the run. They have be conscious of his speed. He's due to break some long runs. That opens up the passing game.

However, the big question is; How will the weather impact this game?

turnovers and huge plays will determine this game. Can we just punch them fuckers in the throat and call it a day? Nope, it's 60 minutes of nervousness when it comes to Iowa and Nebraska. Send them packing Hawks and have the best game of your life. I want to witness the Big Red meltdown in Lincoln. Big talk from a bunch of pussies, "Hey, I'm Eric Crouch w/man-boobs....Go Big Red"

The weather is supposed to be crap, it's going to be a low scoring game. Hopefully Iowa will be able to run the ball on Nebraska.

You guys are psyching yourselves out. Nebraska might hit a few big plays, but not all day. They’ll also give a few turnovers to Iowa

41-20 Hawks

I have seen nothing from Nebraska's defense this season to think they have improved at all. They were 10 ply soft last year, and they're 10 ply soft now.

Our run game struggles are well documented, but our game against Illinois showed last week that we can hurt teams thru the air. Nate will have to be solid, but based on his comments I don't think he fears Memorial Stadium all that much. After reading thru BHGP's Rewatch (a good breakdown of each game the following Monday), Illinois sold their souls and then some to shut down our run game, putting 8 and 9 guys into a tight box most of the day. Nebraska may try the same thing, but I don't think they have near the defensive coaching Illinois does, and their LBs are especially bad. Look for Goodson to have a few big cutback lanes to hit due to overpursuing defenders.

As for Nebby's O, I think Martinez has regressed a decent amount. Teams have almost 2 seasons worth of film on him now. He doesn't have Stanley Morgan to lean on, he may not have Wandale Robinson Friday, and the felon RB is finally off the team. His completion percentage has taken a dive from 64.6% last season to 59.7% this season, as Frost is having trouble finding him safe throws. Furthermore, I think he's anxious. He's been pretty dinged up for the second year in a row now, and he's a big enough factor in their run game to take a lot of shots. I still don't think their OL is good enough to out muscle us up front, which means Frost will try and get cute again.

TL;DR Nebraska is going backwards.

Hawks 31
Fuskers 13

Keeping it simple here....we finally run the ball, mix in some throws, and come out of there with a 24-13 win. Go Hawks.

Add Collin Miller to the latest in a long of Nebraska players, coaches, and administrators who just can't keep their damn mouths shut. He's butthurt because we don't respect them? I seem to recall N braska defenders starting crap with Fant early and often last year, and Martinez doing his little hip shimmy in Hankin's' grill after scoring a late TD last year.

Now if they want to call not playing for OT as an example of lack of respect, then game on. Next time it's fourth and 8 and the game is on the line, stop us. But it's their lack of respect for, basically everyone they play that keeps biting them in the ass. Saying they hate every team they play in the conference? Cry me a river. Get stronger and more physical and keep your athletes out of the police blotter. Or go back to your old conference

Husker nation, your act is weak..

More free bulletin board material. Reflects the HC.

KF's players keep their mouths shut and do their job.

Scott Frost players try to start shit and act tough.
