Iowa Football Highlights

Yeah, as a surprise to me, I'm getting excited for the football season. It helps that I just watched this video recently and thought we could get a highlight thread going. Here's most of the highlights from one of my favorite games. Isn't it crazy how mobile Tate was? He was exactly the type of QB we struggle against so bad nowadays.

Hey MeatMan, are you sure you're not...me? I just watched this last night (I think it was one of the vids that came up after the Iowa/Ben Roethlisberger video) and was thinking how much I missed Drew Tate at QB. Spooky.

and here's my all time favorite Hawkeye from the offensive and special teams side of the ball. Dwight was a threat every time he touched the ball.

Wish more scothawk videos were available.

This. Last time I went to his website none of the videos would play.

He did this back when it was an extremely hard thing to do. I remember on the old Scout site he would post when he finished a new video and it would take him several hours to complete a 5 or 6 minute video.

He still has the best Hawkeye videos I have seen and some of them are 10+ years old.

This video shows what an idiot Mark May must be. Does he not know Kirk Ferentz can't coach, is overpaid, and doesn't have good game-day prep? OoTH needs to get on the horn to Bristol and set the guy straight.

with all due respect...OOTH has always recognized the achievements of KF earlier in his career. his criticisms are usually about the last few years. he also points out clock management issues that have always been a part of kirk's regime.

and do we really need to turn another thread into a debate about KF?

Interesting how aggressive the play calls were against OSU. Went for the kill. Of course we had that great defense then.

BTW, was watching Purdue OSu replay from 2009. Purdue punted from PSU 35 yard line! PSU fumbled the catch...

<<and do we really need to turn another thread into a debate about KF?>>

Mark May did that, not me.

The number of videos seems to mirror team's success during the season. Deanvogs IMO does a great job in lieu of Scothawk.

As someone mentioned, it was great fun to watch Drew Tate. Funny how when we open things up and allow a QB to play aggressively it works. Could say the same thing about Vandy... when we opened it up against PITT....what do you know...it worked.

So why does KFz ignore that and immediately revert back to the plodding conservative Offense? Does he not learn?

I know some of you have a lot of hate for DJK but he was one of very few playmakers that Iowa has had in recent yrs. Not saying he shouldnt have been in the doghouse but think what his numbers might have been if he wasnt in there soo much. This video is also really well made. Check out the one handed catch vs wisky.

I would say "hate" is a strong word for feelings about DJK. "Disappointment" is the word that comes to mind.

You are the worst of the KF bashers. I give props to OoTH as he never derails threads that are on topic with his feelings on KF. You, not so much.

So...you're saying we should abandon the RB position and let the QB handle those duties, as well?

What that 2004 team did was out of sheer necessity. And frankly, the 2005 team MAY have done as well, save for some injuries at the worst times (including Hinkel missing games with broken arm).

2003 showed, as well, that the coaching staff is able to adapt when we lost several receivers (Mo Brown, Hinkel for a couple games). The emergence of Ramon "Razor" Ochoa didn't hurt, either, but Calvin Davis saw a lot of action, Eric McCollom played at WR vs. QB, etc.

But in an ideal world, you don't go from season to season using duct tape, WD-40 and a sideline full of mirrors to run the team.
