Iowa Football And The Coaches Poll

I just hope we don't overlook Penn State. Losing their starting quarterback for the season and their head coach being fired, can make a team dangerous. At this point, they have nothing to lose. I can see them using it as a rallying cry.

Or they could just quit (if they haven't already).
Don't count on it, but it happened before.

Rumor had it Adidas was part of the driving force or maybe the reason why Penn State acted so quickly. I think after their loss the previous week, they had several 4 and 5 star decommits as well. Is it true that if your coach is fired midseason you can immediately enter the portal and go to a different team? I can't keep up with all the rule changes and so forth.

Right, we saw what Skippy's kid at UCLA did to PSU that ignited this situation. I mean, yes. You're preparing for a team and a quarterback that you have to assume have some talent. Maybe the unmissing link to make that all come together is gone. And maybe they have the missing link. I know they can't completely rearrange the team and deploy completely brand new schemes and plays on offense and defense that Iowa coaches would be completely unfamiliar with. But man, they can sure throw in a lot of wrinkles. And purposefully zag when in the past they would have zigged. And, there's always the thing where you just turn them loose. Let them draw up plays on their chests in the huddle like we did in the backyard.

Course, this is where we just thank the eternal daylights that we have Parker.

Yep.

It will be interesting in the next few days. We're going to get an idea of whether Frnaklin was tight with his guys and they were ride or die, or if he had lost the locker room.

If his guys were still tight with him through that 3 week hell hole stretch, we'll probably see a bunch of people transferring. If he was the cancer in the room you can probably see most everyone stay and fight it out.

If it's the latter, then PSU is still going to give a lot of teams trouble. It might be what they wanted all along.

This isn't the first time we'll find out about a "successful" coach who outright lost a team. MTV made a whole movie about it. Although, I suspect in this portal world, there aren't many coaches who are despised by their team.

Hence my reference to drawing up plays on their chest. When James Vanderbeek's buddy takes over and tells them to run the hook and ladder or throw it to the 400 lbs. offensive lineman.
