Iowa 'felt like home'

It would be a long shot if he were the top RB or WR, but being a top OL makes it not that long of shot.

Yea wasn't that long ago and the hawks pulled 3 of the top O Line prospects in one class. This kid is gonna be better than kid that they were going after last year, whats his name seantrel?

Still a long shot but good news

I agree ... still a long shot. However, I do see there being possibly some glimmers of hope.

There are trade-offs ...

'Bama = warmer weather, gets to play with bro, school is VERY high profile, coach also has close ties to "the league," overall SEC hype, possibly greater chance to play for national title (sorry Iowa fans, that matters to high-profile recruits)

Iowa = "fish bowl" effect even more pronounced (a positive for guys who like the attention), better academics for the football players, better record of placing OTs high in the draft (former Iowa OL are a more highly esteemed "commodity"), head coach works extensively with the OL (should be a big plus for ANY OL-recruit)

'better academics for the football players?'?

isn't that a reach?

I have been pretty confident that he was Bama bound but that comment has me opening a glimmer of hope that he'll come to Iowa.

'better academics for the football players?'?

For some recruits it IS a reach ... however, for others, like Marcus Coker (physics major) or Nolan MacMillan (math major) among others ... it is probably significant. You don't want to go to a school where the football staff marginalizes your academic interests and steers you away from them.

Unfortunately, it is a reality in major college football that MANY college coaching staffs STEER their players AWAY from tough majors or, instead, steers them toward particular majors. In contrast, Ferentz and Co DO NOT do that. Everything I've EVER heard about Ferentz suggests that he forces guys to work their behinds off for the football program ... however, he also equally emphasizes the great importance of having guys pursue their OWN academic aspirations.

Does any of this apply to CyKo? I don't know ... however, it COULD. Heaven forbid ... but players DO get injured ... and a college education can still be a great "back-up" plan. At Iowa a guy is still ensured to get his full time on 'ship and take advantage of their education. Vernon Jackson, Ettore Ewen, and Alex Kanellis, among others, can all attest to that ....

I believe Cy Ko wants to major in psychology, which IMO helps out Iowa because it sounds like he is interested in academics.

I believe I read that Kouandjio wants to major in psychology. That's a + for us. Coker is an astrophysics major. Rudock plans to enroll pre-med when he gets on campus. There are still some players out there who pride themselves on their work in the classroom as well as the football field.

Good thing he looks like a Shoo-in for the NFL, because there is no job in psychology(w/out a Phd).

Sounds like this DaMatha is a pretty damn good highschool...

CyKology....yeah corny as hell, but had to say it.

He's a CyKo on the field... I could go on.

based on what exactly? Where are you getting your figures?
I'm going to go out on a limb and this is just his opinion. like this:
Bama: 80%
Iowa: 19%
Auburn: 1% (depending on how much salary cap is left, but doubt he'll want to play against his bro)

based on what exactly? Where are you getting your figures?

hours and hours of research, interviews, historical benchmarks, and industry knowledge

......I'm with you, I never understand the point of these subjective percentages...

I would put it at:
Iowa: 61.34%
bama: 65.28%
auburn: .001% or 110% if they can get the money together in time.
Iowa state: .000000000000000000000000000000001% yes there is a chance
