Iowa fans should root for Boise State

to win out...

Iowa is probly not going to play in title game. Very little chance of that.

Next in line is Rose Bowl. Of course, go 8-0 in Big Ten and its yours. However, say they went 7-1 and that loss was to Ohio State, and the Buckeyes go undefeated this year. OSU would be one half of national title picture. Then You want Boise State or TCU to be undefeated and the other half of the national title game...otherwise, one of those two teams is going to get the vacated Big Ten Champ's bid for the Rose Bowl this year if they are in the final BCS Top 8, automatically.

Which would mean a hypothetical 10-2 Iowa team would not get to play in the Rose Bowl, but would still be an at large BCS option. If Alabama and Ohio State go undefeated and Iowa is 10-2, I think the Sugar would have the first two at large picks...Sugar gets the first BCS pick this year...Sugar would lose SEC champ if Bama is #1, they get first at large. Rose would lose Big Ten champ, but they would be locked into taking one of the BCS buster teams in Top 8...then the Sugar would get the next pick, because its first in the at large order this year. Iowa would be in the Sugar in that scenario, IMO..vs Florida (my pick at this point)

I realize there is a lot of season left, but just saying that Boise State winning out is one of the 'safer' things to root for...'just in case' Iowa doesn't go 8-0 in Big Ten ;)

Why not just cheer for Iowa to win out, or at the very least go 7-1? I might speak for the minority here, but after tonight, I don't really care what Boise does. I'm concerned about what Iowa does.

I think it's okay to root for Boise tonight. But, if they were to get upset by somebody in the WAC? They will drop a LONG way if that happens.

Can't bring myself to do it. Blue field is reason enough plus I saw some fans with those soccer horn things.

Personally I don't care if Boise would take our spot. If we don't earn it I have no problem with boise going. And wouldn't even really want an Illinoisesque type Rose Bowl. Just wouldn't mean as much to me, and I'd wait to go to a real Rose Bowl.

If Boise loses any game this year, the backlash in the polls will be severe. A 1 loss Boise team will not go to the BCS, so I definitely would not agree that we should root for Boise.

And what happens if we win the Big 10 (7-1, with the loss to someone other than OSU), and don't get to go?

Wrong, worse case scenario is they drop out of the top 10 to like 13th or 14th....They are guaranteed BCS if in top 8. Do you not think 4 or 5 teams ahead of going to lose?? Hell 4 of 5 teams ahead of them will probably play each other. It's almost a guarantee they lose this game and win out they are in BCS.

If we win the Big Ten it's an auto berth, this can only happen if ohio state wins big gten and goes to NC. not going to happen if we beat them.

A in-conference loss would hurt them way more than and Oregon St. loss for sure. If they lost tonight at least it would be to a ranked Pac-10 team.

This makes no sense to me. I don't think a one loss BSU team gets an automatic bid.

There is a new clause for the Rose Bowl...the first time over the next four years that a non-auto qualifying conference team is Top 8 in BCS and the Rose loses one of either the B10 or P10 champ to BCS title game, that slot automatically goes to the non-AQ team

If Boise loses a conference game, they aren't going to be in the top 8. It'd be pretty unlikely, anyway.

Don't look at them as Boise State, what if I told you the preseason #3 team in the nation went through the season and only loss one game. You'd say yeah, no-brainer guaranteed BCS. Throw in the fact they only have to finish in top 8 and I'd say the odds are pretty high, only way I see them not making it would be if TCU went undefeated(which pretty good chance of also).

That logic won't work. Voters can't pretend that it's not Boise State. If they lose in-conference, they're screwed. Their schedule is WEAK, and a loss at any point going forward will result in more than a pound of flesh being exacted.

I'm more arguing if they lose this game, if they lose the last game of the year, yeah probably won't happen.
