Iowa City

In his final letter, Kinnick wrote, "I am so glad you could speak enthusiastically of your visit to Iowa City. That little town means so much to me...It is almost like home. I love the people, the campus, the trees, everything about it. And it is beautiful in the spring...And I hope you strolled off across the golf course just at twilight and felt the peace and quiet of an Iowa evening, just as I used to do."

*sniff* Best 4 years of my life

Are we supposed to console you or what? I'm not real sure where you were going with the thread.

I think he is trying to point out that Iowa City is a special place, and that he, like Kinnick, enjoyed his 4 years there.

I am also an Iowa grad and I agree -- it is a special place. Kinnick was right.

Of course there are the neanderthals that spend 4 years as students in Iowa City getting drunk three times a week and generally making fools of themselves - for those people, Iowa City is a wasted opportunity.

I've been fortunate to call it home for the last 15 years. I've lived in a lot of places. Iowa City has been a dream. Great people. Much to do. Love it.

I have been in Colo Spgs for 30 years. I make too much money to just up and leave now but when I can I am moving back to IC. Hell, it probably will be a lot cheaper as many times as I go back every year. There really is a midwestern mistique that I miss so it is not just a case of nostalgia. I will say, however, this last winter sent shivers down my back watching the temps you all enjoyed. C-Springs was at least 15 degrees warmer all winter.

It's a great quote. Those of us that love (or have loved) Iowa City get it. Though Spring is beautiful here, there's nothing like the Fall. All of those fantastic trees, the colors, the smells, all against a backdrop of old buildings....can't be beat.
