Iowa BBall 2011-12 Vs. Iowa Fball 2000

In 1999 Iowa football was coming off arguably it's worse season in school history. They were 1-10 overall and 0-8 in Big 10 play. Through the first 4 games of 2000 things didn't look much better. We entered league play that year 0-4. However once the Hawks got into B10 play things started to click. There were still some ugly moments, but overall the team played much better. They managed to go 3-5 in conference and were competitive in many of the losses. This was KF's 2nd year at Iowa.

In 2010-11 Iowa basketball suffered through one of it's worse seasons ever. They were 11-20 overall, and 4-14 in league play. Through the first 16 games of the non conference season in 2011-12 things didn't look much better. We entered league play that year 10-6 (including some very ugly losses) despite having a very soft schedule. However once the Hawks got into B10 play things started to click. The first game was a hard fought loss to annual conference power Purdue. They followed that performance with back to back conference road wins at Wisconsin and at Minnesota. They managed to finish ??? that year, and were competitive in many of the losses. This was Fran's 2nd year at Iowa.

Very nice comparison. So next year we will be back in the dance and maybe win a game and then I expect a deep tourney run in Basabe' senior year a la the 2002 football season.

I could have sworn we were 8-5 heading into the B10.

And then Fran will fail to win a couple NCAA tourney games, and all the message board fans will be screaming for (Dillard/Speraw/Francis's) head.

Fran will then win a couple NCAA tourney games fans will be in love again, rinse repeat.
