Iowa 2013 recruiting: Where it stands, the factors that shaped it

I have to be honest. When I read that story and look at the recruits Kirk has landed the past for or five years, there are all sorts of red flags in Kirk Ferentz's football program. And I think some of the national pundits are telling us that in a very polite way. I don't have a lot of confidence that next year or the year after that are going to be much better than 4-8 or 5-7. Plus, as has been pointed out several times, the quality of coaching has increased substantially in the B1G, and there are some real sharks in the water -- Urban Meyer and Brady Hoke to mention two.

Look dude, we aren't Northwestern or Purdue, we just don't have the location. We don't have their weather either. Cut Coach Water Walker some slack, he is doing the best he can with what he has. He had the cruise back in December, and if you don't remember the Nebraska game he obviously made a lot of adjustments the week prior to play them so close. You think just anyone would/could coach in Iowa City making nearly 4 million dollars and almost have a .500 winning percentage? It takes coaching version of Stephen Hawking to beat Iowa St with regularity.

If I was totally honest about what I think of Kurtball at this juncture, I'd be banned from this site forthwith.

It involves certain anatomical gymnastics and contortions.

I'm a frustrated fan too. Last year was a brutal under deliver for the FB staff, but I'm not so down on this recruiting class. I like this class in fact. I know we lost D Hill but if I remember correct he was a 3* when he committed and then got upgraded after the Nike camp in Oregon. Our staff saw that talent before the start rating.......gotta be some positive with that I would think. Maybe we got one or two more of those. I believe many of our 3 star guys are (high 3 star) meaning the are only a couple points from the 4th star. We got our positions of need covered (except maybe DE) and we got some really good talent. I think the announcement of coaching changing in the next couple weeks will be more telling for me about my opinion of "where we are going". I like the speed and talent of this class ok my question is who's gonna coach em up at WR and RB........
