Iowa 2.5 point favorites over badgers

This game feels like a must win for the Iowa program. If they can't get this one, it is a big indictment on the KF regime.
Yes...22 years down to this one game. This may be a little over dramatic.

He's won 5 straight against ISU, 6 Straight against Nebraska, 6 straight against Minnesota, and 6 straight against Illinois. That's going to keep you from being indicted for a long time.

For some reason, Wisconsin has our number...but I think this team can finally exact some revenge. It's going to be a dogfight...but the law of averages dictate the two or three plays that have decided this game 4 of the last five years...finally go our way.

Melodramatic? Yeah, maybe. As vulnerable as this Wisconsin team is if Iowa can’t take advantage of this don’t you think it says something? Lol, the first time since forever Wisky doesn’t have a legit dude at runningback and Iowa loses....yeah, I am looking at KF and his staff sideways.

Wisconsin ain’t gonna want to lose this one at all.

Gotta have Spencer show up as Dr. Jekyll for both halves instead of splitting time with Mr. Hyde.
Yep...Wisky's going to try and freak him out and get him jumpy by bringing extra bodies. The good news, hopefully Kallenberger is back...as they OL has done a great job with blitz pick up. Plumb isn't going to handle their edge rushers very well. You know Wisconsin...they will attack you relentless if they think they have an edge somewhere.

Wisconsin has had a tough year in a lot of ways. But they're not going to lay down without putting up a fight. It won't be some big anomaly if we lose to them this year. And its not like we are 2 touchdown favorites.

I saw them early in the year, one where Mertz missed like one or two passes the whole game. We will present a stiffer challenge for him with our defense, no doubt. But he is a legit QB and it won't be any shame if we lose to them.

I believe that means they were favorites in every regular season game. Has to be a first, right?

The site I saw had NW as a slight fav (-1) over Iowa for game 2. Don't know what the consensus was on that one.

Good time to remind: Iowa is one of the top teams in the country as a favorite under the current iteration of the coaching staff (i.e. since 2017)...

I cannot imagine why one game would have that kind of impact win or lose. But boy. I sure want to beat those guys on Saturday. Seriously.

Wow

It is important for re-establishing momentum in the arms race in the division over Wisconsin (which the road to the division title has frequently been). Iowa should be playing for the division title...and normally this game would hold more water. But, Northwestern, like a sneak thief in the bushes, took advantage of what it needed to (Iowa not having its shit together to start the year, Wisconsin's lack of games with covid issues, etc).

But, taking advantage of situations.....man that is something where we lack. When Wisconsin has the chance, they take it. Northwestern has done it in the past 2 out of 3 years.

So, on one hand, winning this game can be something to build on. On the other hand, Iowa has to start winning this type of game when there is also something on the line to. And when you have an opponent on the ropes, knock them out.

I'm watching the IU UW game now. and I'm impressed with both teams. IU is very physical and athletic...and so is Wisconsin. IU just made a few nice plays in the passing game. They also had a easy TD but the WR dropped the ball ...with nobody around him.

Iowa will have to play its best game of the year. UW looks like regular Wisconsin team. IU made the QB beat them...and he couldn't ... still UW out rushed and won possession time...and WI was driving right down at the end.

hold on to your lugnuts !

Would you rather have the avg of 8-4 a year like Iowa with hardly any losing seasons or a more crazy up and down record like jNW over the years where they have a good record, then really good, graduate everyone then have a bad record, then a mediocre record as they rebuild. It has been steadier for jNW and Fitz is a hell of a coach who puts fire into his players,

Yes Iowa needs to beat Wisky at least 50-50 to turn 9-3 years into 10-2 years and West Division championships and who knows what next

Northwestern is going to lose to Ohio state by 30 points. Iowa would have experienced a similar fate.

Iowa is playing for a good bowl game and could pass up Northwestern for a better bowl if Iowa wins the next two.

Just scouting the numbers I would have thought Wisconsin won the game. The penalties standout, perhaps that was the main difference in the game along with the extra turnover.
