Seems awfully high to me. Either Vegas thinks UL-Monroe is awful, or Iowa isn't as bad as their loss to SDSU. Interesting none the less.

After doing some research it looks like ULM is in complete rebuilding mode.

Keith Richard (1979-82) returns to his alma mater to take over the head coaching duties. Richard previously served as an assistant at ULM (12-19, 6-12) following his playing career. From there, he went on to coach Louisiana Tech (1995-07) and then served as an assistant at LSU from 2008-10. Expectations aren't very high as he enters his new gig, as the Warhawks were picked to finish last in the West Division in the league's preseason poll. The team returns only five players from last year's squad, and only two of them logged any minutes last season.

I heard a booking talking on the radio the other day. He basically said the time to make money on college hoops is the beginning of the year, because Vegas is awfuly at picking the spreads the first few weeks.

From what I've read about UL-M, they've gone through a similar process as Iowa, except they're starting from a much, much lower point. When their new coach took over this spring they had five guys on their roster.

I can't speak to the point spread... if I gambled, I would stay away from this Iowa team for the first 8-10 games (if not the whole season), because you're probably going to see pretty erratic play, flashes of competence, flashes of success and flashes of horrible, horrible basketball.

One problem with these early games is that there is absolutely no fear in the other teams coming into Carver. Iowa used to be able to put away the UL-Ms of the world in about ten minutes... even the opposing coaches would admit they were traveling to Iowa for the check, not in hopes of a win (I specifically remember Larry Morgan saying something about this when I was 12 and it blew my mind). That is obviously gone and Iowa is going to get every team's best shot. It will take a while to reestablish.
