Intermat Rankings 10/30

Looks pretty fair overall. I like the Hawks chances of placing above their rankings at 141, 149, 174 & 197.

Gabe - you forgot 184.

Also, I'm anxious to see how Telford will do this year as I've heard he has put on some muscle.

I was surprised the Hawks are ranked #2 as I thought Minny would have that position in the preseason ranks. Iowa is a strong team with lots of room for improvement...should be a great year!

AF - I think there's a great chance to improve at 184 as well but if Gambrall and Lofthouse do switch weights, it's a little harder for me to make an informed prediction on how Lofthouse will do at the higher weight without seeing him wrestle a few matches at 184 first. I just hope that if Lofthouse does wrestle 184, he's been working to gain some solid weight to help against the bigger guys rather than aim for 174 and then have to bump up by losing his spot and then being outsized all year.

I too am excited to see the beefed up Telford this year and expect big things. Hwt is loaded this year though so a 5th or better at Nationals would make me a very happy man.

Intermat has the tournament scoring based on their current rankings (excluding any bonus points) as...

1 Penn State 107.5
2 Iowa 93
3 Minnesota 89
4 Oklahoma State 87.5

Penn State is definitely the leader at this point based not only on their projected points from placings but also their ability to rack up bonus points in a hurry. I think the Hawks will be right there at the end though and could win the NC if a few things go their way including making substantial improvements from last year at 149, 165, 174, 184 and 197.

So half the lineup has to make "substantial improvements"?
