I thought about posting this too. 538.com is one of my favorite websites.

Although #20 for Iowa is still prettty good, it appears that Wisconsin has officially taken over the Big Ten title of the team that does the more with less.

Unfortunately, it's been that way for a really long time...maybe 20 years.

what is it about iowa. nothing really ever surprising is said or happens. Its like watching an oatmeal eating contest.

20? Not even close. More like 7.

Wisconsin did great in the 3 year stretch where Iowa stunk (1998-2000). But once KF got the program turned around...from 2001 thru 2009, the Hawks went 77-36 and Wisky went 77-39...virtually identical. It wasn't until the botched fake punt game in 2010 and the subsequent decommit of Melvin Gordon that year, that Wisky started surging past us.

I'm telling you....that one play completely turned around the fortunes of the 2 programs....if we win that game, we don't lose the later game to NW and certainly not to Minny. And we maybe even win the OSU game, which gives us the conference title, which probably means we keep Gordon and the rest is history.

But no way they've outplayed/outdeveloped us over the last 20 years....

Thanks for opening old wounds... As factual as they are... The balls it took for them to run that fake punt there like that were huge and I even remembered thinking at that point in the game I'm surprised they didn't go for it on 4th down... Ugh..

Trust me, I certainly didn't enjoy writing it or remembering it either. But the "consensus" that Wisky has out performed or outdeveloped us for the better part of 2 decades is just not true...and I'm tired of hearing talking heads on ESPN and elsewhere acting like Wisky is this great juggernaut and we're vastly inferior...other than the last 7 years, the facts don't in any way support it. Heck, going further back, Hayden didn't lose to them for like 20 years (just the tie in '84 when Harmon broke his leg) until Wisky finally broke thru in 1997.

Right there with ya.. The overall series is within a game or two also I believe. It's always been close over the years. So yeah even if Wisky has had a recent run of success it just goes to show ya the short sightedness of the college football world. I've been on record of saying I think they are overrated this year. They have a fairly easy schedule for sure but you can't tell me they'll be double digit favorites against us Northwestern or even Nebraska... I could see them lose 2 of those 3 and not be surprised. And that was before losing 2 LBs for the year I felt that way so we'll see..

That is the biggest difference if you ask me.
