Intensity

How fun was it watching the Hawkeye defense play with emotion and intensity? Where has it been? The defensive line was absolutely great last night. Stopping their run game and getting a great push on every passing play. J. Johnson made a lot of money last night. (Can you say Mike Daniels, reincarnated?) Same goes for Iowa's offensive line. They struggled with the pass blocking so but so has every team that has played Michigan. Michigan defense is very well coached.. Iowa's lineman were coming off the ball and moving people. They were clapping and showing emotion in the huddle. What a great night for Hawkeye football. I hope Ferentz and company can bottle up whatever they did to motivate this week and drink from it often!!

It was great, wish it didn't take a massacre in the previous game to get this kind of performance.

Here's the deal... KF cannot motivate players at all and he thrives in the underdog role or when it's too late to really salvage much. If there are expectations of any kind forget meeting them. Then he finally made some much needed personnel changes after getting to 7 wins to lock in a buy out year was in serious jeopardy of happening.

Gair, Faith & Rugamba added something to the mix. When guys are missing assignments and performing poorly all year but are not held accountable through playing time how does that not drag the team morale down? Should the NDSU stinker not have been a huge red flag to make some of these moves back then? How many losses and poor performances did it take? There's still another guy or two I'd replace.

Let's look at Gair. Here's a guy who started due to injury at PITT as a sophomore and did fairly well never to be heard of again until yesterday. His play was no worse than what we have seen from the other 2 safeties this year. Yet with all the struggles he cannot get on the field for a single snap until last night. Somehow he played pretty well.

Great win for the players and fans but it is just so disappointing that it always takes so much ineptitude to get things right in the program. This year is still a massive underachievement any way you slice it.

Agree on the Ferentz and personnel thoughts..
I would say that if Iowa can win their next two games and then their bowl game, 9-4 will at least keep the fans interested. It would also mean another win over Nebraska which is very important to those of us in the Western part of the state.. Lots left to play for.

I am not rooting against wins especially against Nebby but I am just sick and tired of this same old dance. Massive underachievement, performance problems and uninspired play with no personnel changes for weeks. We are told that the guys that give us the best chance to win are already out there due to 'practice' evaluations. Yet amazingly we plug some other guys in and it looks every bit as good as it has all year. How good could this have looked with Hooker and Mends/Jones out there too? But that might ruin the good stories narrative.

One really has to question again what's really being evaluated. Are they charging fans money for the actual games or practices which none of us see or care about? What you do on game days counts to me not some limited pad/contact practice.
